the deadly asiana airlines crash at sfo. the pilots are blaming a system malfunction on the boeing jet. katie marzulo is live. >> reporter: the problem is it conflicts with what investigators have found. "the wall street journal" citing people is reporting ntsb investigators have not found any mechanical nor electrical problems with the twin engine jet prior to impact. the same sources say the pilots have told investigators they believe the automated speed control system called the auto throttle, disconnected on its own allegedly without any warning to the crew. now supporting that pilot account asiana 777 maintenance lost show a number of uncommanded auto throttle disconnects. still in this case it appears there's a discrepancy between physical evidence and pilot account, at least at this point. now the ntsb officials there have previously suggested the pilots may have failed to activate the auto throttle correctly. as my colleague and aviation expert eric thomas has said it would be if you turned on the cruise control but

as far as fallout, nearly two dozen passengers have filed lawsuits against asiana airlines. >> in theeantime, this crash has raised a number of questions about how well pilots are monitoring their aircraft-- and whether they are trying to land, when they should abort a landing. it turns out, prior to the asiana crash, these issues were already being studied. kron 4's dan kerman spoke to safety experts. in an interview you'll see only on 4. >> it was a 1 and 1/2 seconds before flight 214 crashed into a wall of san francisco. pilots first discovered this or doing a go or around as it is called. in this case, the decision came too late to make a difference. it turned out that study shows that most pilots tend to land in any way despite the policies with acquiring them to abort. >> why do 97 percent of the land anyway? >> they stated that because pilots do not feel that it is risky. >> when a person does not perceive that what here she is doing is causing a risk, they continue. >> the crash is also raised rates about the automated systems that are on planes and how long the pilot to monit
