it happened at 47th and aspen streets and that's where "action news" reporter kenneth moton is now livenneth, what are the details? >> reporter: well, jim we just learned the victim who suffered cuts to her face from that broken glass is a 20-year-old special needs student from the school of the future. take a look because this scene just cleared moments ago. it all happened right here. this bus was carrying a total of nine special needs students from that school when the rock came hurdling through that window. investigators say it was around 4:30 when the philadelphia school district bus was traveling on aspen street near 47th here in west philadelphia. it appears two juveniles from a nearby playground ran over, picked up some rocks and bricks and started throwing them at the bus. it only took one to cause some real damage shattering that window frightening those students and injuring that 20-year-old female. there were two assistants on that bus along with the driver who just spoke with police. >> he doesn't -- he was driving down the street. obviously there's two assistants with them

with the aspen institute.here's a lot of innovative things going on in the country but were not taking advantage of test practices and learning around the country. what is going on in chicago or south carolina or arizona -- there's a lot of interesting things going on. we need to bring those efforts and ecosystems together. meaning, we need to bring the university, the community college, the private sector, the local government, in regions together to learn from one another and help develop best practices around skilled workforce training. it is an assumption. we've got to have internet capability. we have got to have the capacity to support these kinds of training and learning. mr. powell: i think that's a great insight. lots of times in public media we spend a lot of time talking about technology and not what it means to be a citizen or consumer or member of the labor force. even to be a consumer, if you think about it, increasingly requires technical skill and educational attainment that really is not there

the lesson you talked about was the lesson you and i had talked about before at a conference in aspens this idea of what you discovered coming out of what might have been considered a big downturn. it turned out to be the biggest upturn of your life. how did that happen? conan: when i was hosting the "tonight" show i was very much trying to probably please this sort of bold media idea. such a mental, such a heavy mental. at the time it felt that way. this kind of crazy disaster -- it still feels comical and improbable, when the whole thing quickly fell apart and i found myself without a job and not knowing what i was going to do it's very liberating. it is an amazing feeling. i don't recommend it. there are other ways to get that high. there is lipitor. i found it to be liberating -- first of all, i did not realize how much -- i was not nearly as internet savvy then as i am today, and what happened was a lot of the pro-conan forces rose up on the internet. it was very creative. charlie: a told you that you had a committed audience, whatever the form was, they were waiting for you. con
