physical pressure has become part of what people consider when working with kids with autism or asperger's or any conditions related to it. you look around at a site like autism speaks, you will find products and tools for families with names like cozy calm weighted blankets. weighted blankets. this one, the big hug. a special hug vest. looks like an ordinary jean jacket vest but it weighs a couple of pounds on purpose. the idea is that that weight, the pressure of the hug vest or pressure of the weighted blanket with the extra weight in it can sometimes help a person with asperger's or autism to feel calm in a way that works for them. obviously it does not work for everybody. who knows exactly how it works. for some people this does work. particularly for autistic kids for whom this technique works, physical pressure, hugs and physical pressure can be part of the protocol for professionals who work with them. it's more than just a hug for a hug's sake with any kid. in some cases, it is a therapeutic measure for kids with autism. although we cannot know for sure, it seems like that context

my lowest point came when my oldest son, who has asperger's, darted out into a store parking lot.h him, but luckily an older gentleman grabbed him for me. later on i beat myself up about it, not being able to save your child is terrifying. i couldn't walk the store, much less run after a 6-year-old. i finally decided to make a change after attending a convention and listening to various motivational speakers. i did research and decided that the weight watchers core plan was a good fit for me. i did that for the majority of my weight loss. i didn't start working out right away. but eventually i started walking and working out in a pool. i grew stronger as time went on. today i teach fitness classes like zumba and i'm a personal trainer. i love being active. in total i've lost 200 pounds and went from a size 32 to a size 6. i have done it without any surgery, magic pills, shakes or voodoo. and that makes it much sweeter to me. >> so great. >> what a great story. >> no voodoo, as she says. >> a new orleans girl, right? >> like so many people, emotional eating was her biggest issue an

it is not i have asperger's or adhd. you may have a child with both. it is important to also diagnose the asperger's because they will do other things for that child in his environment, not just keep him as an adhd child, get him other social support and other skill support. so it is very important to accurately diagnose. that -- adhd really travels alone. we usually find adhd associated with other disorders, whether it is depression, anxiety, asper ger's, learning disabilities, ofessive -- upsets compulsive disorders. it is a neurologic disorder. we see a lot of these other neurological conditions in addition to adhd. that is important because once adhd is diagnosed, they will have other conditions that we need to address or just the opposite -- you might see this other condition and say oh, they have this, they don't have adhd. asperave down syndrome, ger's, autism, they don't have adhd. that is not necessarily correct. i think both of those are important. this gets back to diagnostic of humans and how good you are at diagnosing the condition. about
