sexual assault response team. the mayor's office established a coordinate out of his office of criminal justice and they're tasked with spearheading and overseeing some of the bpd reforms. at that time it appeared that the bpd had earned its lesson and we were dedicated to ensuring best practices and investigating incidents thoroughly in a trauma and form manner. unfortunately as time passed the urgency to pain thain those new high standards began to wane. as detectives retired, got promoted or reassigned they were not replaced and command leadership changed often during that time. when the doj report was issued it was clear we had dropped the ball. that's not to say that there were not and still are not talented and dedicated pros to work the unit and it was not the individual investigators, but a failure by the agency in general. we failed to prioritize sex offense investigations. that said, i'm happy to say since that time in the last three years we've made tremendous strides toward improving my response of sex
