was honored when fred ryan, chair of our board, asked me to chair the white house historical association's board committee for this important four-day senate. i want to thank the members of our committee for their year-lock commitment and contributions to the planning of the summit. with the terrific staff of the white house historical association and the vision and leadership, we've convened more than 100 presidential sites, as well as leading experts in the wide array of fields and interests at the presidential cite that the representative told us they wanted to hear from. that is what it is like to be in the white house. our next panel, we'll shift gears to hollywood. as dd myers said in her message, we'll examine you the big and small screens portray the fictional perspective of the white house and the people who live there and who work there. from comedies to dramas, there is no shortage of interest and fascination in washington. there are more shows, more characters and roles that are portrayed and examined, and certainly a large volume of materials to draw from. one person who knew the po

what disturbs me is that some members of the home owners association board were issuing statements that owners were opposed to redevelopment of the neighborhood. as an owner, i was never consulted. furthermore, we learned that the board planned to possibly use our building fund to litigate against the plan. i have initiated legal action to see that whether this is lawful or not and how much has been spent so far. another situation disturbed me. i've twice requested that the developers, the supervisor, and the city, be given an opportunity to present their case at an h.o.a. meeting, and i have twice been denied. board of supervisors. my name is charles. i'm the president of the north pan handle association. i'm here in support of amanda eaken, the merely appointment for the sfmta board of directors. earlier this year, the association committed a vision zero subcommittee. the committee was to identify streets that are high injury corridors and to assist and to make sure -- we can approach it with safety. when we invited the public to join this committee, amanda was actually the one and only member of the public to join the committee. and which we appreciated because in the short amount of time that we have this committee, we have pushed forward measures from the planning -- from the mta to do daylighting on one of the high-injury corridors in a short amount of time. and amanda also assisted in the creation of a future proposal to assist, identify and do a study on high-injury corridor in the neighborhood. the pan handle association is asking for the board of directors to approve the mayoral appointment, amanda eaken. we believe her judgment, independent thinking and approach in assessing t

so we invited him in for a meeting, which he readily accepted, and he and members of the association and the board were very well prepared, had an agenda. they actually brought lunch for the meeting, but it was a very good information exchange. they're off to a great start under his leadership, in terms of their presence in the community, and we appreciate them. and i see a bit of a -- sort of a resurgence in the black firefighters association, including the membership. president tillman noted -- which i think is also a good healthy sign of the department. he's the first president of the black firefighters association that's also a member of local 98, so i thought that was a really positive step. as you know, i was out of town over this last weekend, attending my niece's wedding i phenomenal, but there was a lot of work here. i heard the stair climb was very successful, so thank you for that. i saw your son, commissioner alioto veronese, in his turn out coat. and then, of course, this was the first mass that i had missed, the police fire mass, where father green, every year, oversees and does a gr

the california association of area agencies is having its annual board retreat in september and we will be focusing this year on a couple of different years. one is behavioural health and making sure that older adults are included in mental health services act programs. one is thinking about housing and trying to figure out if there is a partnership that we can have between the sea four a and the california directory to come up with a intentionally new housing legislation that helps support people staying at home safely. at all so we are looking there at reframing aging as we are in san francisco. so that is exciting. it is my contribution to the board. to bring in people from frameworks to talk to the directors about to reframing the aging and how we might do some statewide campaigning around ageism. moving on to reframing aging, i am really excited that we have actually launched our reframing aging campaign work last week. commissioner wallenberg is involved in that group. it's exciting to have him and have the commission represented their. we are looking at building a two prong campa

you have the right to ask questions of your board and your association. >> ask some questions about if any difficulties been going on. you know, are there any unhappy people in the community about -- have been -- they feel have been dealt with in, uh, maybe not the same as everyone else? >> the condition of the community is your first sign of potential issues with management, the possibility of future costs. so look closely as to the condition of your community both before you buy and after you buy. >> it's a hard timing thing to do when you're looking at purchasing. but if you don't commit that time, i would suggest to not purchase a home in a homeowners association. >> well, there's certain things you surely can do and that is go around to talk to the neighbors. >> mm-hmm. >> because talking to the board itself could be self-serving. uh, if there's a property manager on site, that's good. to whatever extent they would allow you to see those things that are on the website, budgets... >> mm-hmm. >> things like that, assessments that are coming, any construction defect issues that occur
