he had terrifying asthma attacks, sometimes lif life-threatening asthma attacks. chris, we had a conversation. what was that conversation? >> i needed a change in my lifestyle. part of it is diet, part of it is exercise. then i got lucky to find a new exercise i've been doing for the last two years, bicycling in a sa sauna. and that has changed my life completely to the point where i don't take my ventalin anymore for two years. >> what did we talk about about your diet? what was the most important thing to take out of that diet? >> the beer. the wheat. take away the carbs, the wheats, the breads, focusing on the raw and proteins, obviously. >> you say obviously, but some people don't understand how important that is. for you, it was bread most of all. >> it was a filler. i learned that from you and it changed my life from a dietitian point of view. >> it changed your life completely. >> completely. >> you lost a lot of weight. >> at the end, i knew that was the best thing for me. it didn't happen overnight, for sure. it happened gradually, and as i kept doing it

i was also an asthma sufferer. had a very serious asthma attack and almost died. what i did from the start was change my diet. change my exercise regimen, and do a series of breathing exercises that a very dear friend of ours, paul sorvino shared with me. those made such an enormous impact i noticed almost immediately after changing my diet, cutting out wheat, cutting out particularly gluten. changing my diet more raw foods, healthier foods, i noticed and immediate difference, and it was something that, you know, set off a light bulb in my mind and, you have to remember, when i first experienced this change, it was something that no one was really talking about. i mean, asthma was condition. there's nothing you could do about it. i was on seven different medications at the tilme. none were working, including prednisone, making me blow up and look parable. >> prednisone is a steroid. >> i know you experienced a similar situations but making those changes had a profound effect on me and i developed a program, wrote the book and subsequently developed a practice base
