this is what police are telling us so far, that basically two cars were at the intersection of pa say o padre parkway and sequoia. the witness behind them said the two cars started accelerating at a pretty high rate of speed, and that's why police think there was possibly some sort of race. we talked to a sergeant a short time ago. here's what he had to say. apparently we don't have that sound byte in there for you, but the sergeant was saying that the parkway typically the speed limit here is between 30 and 45 miles per hour, but they're estimating that this car was traveling at least 70 miles per hour. the other car, the second car that was supposedly involved but not hit, the driver stopped, let his passengers out, and those passengers, nobody is admitting to any racing. but police suspect that might have happened just because based on the witness statements. now the driver of this car is suffering from broken legs, broken arm, a broken clavicle. the southbound lanes are closed in this area, so avoid this area. they're hoping they can get this back open in the next 30 minutes or so by 5:30. back to you. >> wh
