>> instead of watching their three young children opening christmas gifts this past weekend, the atkinsons had to file a police report after some burglarized their home. >> what kind of person would take christmas away from someone else's children? i cannot imagine. >> the hodgkinson family left their edgewood street home saturday evening to attend a christmas eve dinner party. when they return, they noticed something was wrong. >> our house had been broken into. the bedroom had been ransacked. all of our children's christmas gifts had been taken from under the tree, except for one. our televisions were gone. the game systems were gone. >> baltimore police told the auction since the christmas burglars may have -- told the family that the christmas berber's may have broken into a basement window to gain access to the home. but come they're hoping to celebrate their first christmas in their new home that they moved into two months ago. >> it was heartbreaking. i did not know what to do. >> not only did the thieves take the children's presence, but also the atkinson's wedding rings, too. >> h

cher atkinson reports. >> reporter: 24-year-old bradley manning wore an awkward smile as he was returnedent. the army intelligence analyst had just heard prosecutors accuse him of betraying his country and handing masses of national secrets to the website wikileaks. in all they say manning pulled 100,000 documents from a supposedly secure computer network although he signed agreements to protect government secrets. the hearing last a week and was the first step in deciding whether manning should face a court-martial. manning authorities blame superiors who allowed him to access classified data despite severe emotional warning signs. witnesses testified he was broken to outbursts and that he was a gay soldier and had multiple personalities and was a woman trapped in a man's body. supporters for manning have stood outside the gates at ft. mead, maryland. they say the leaked material didn't hurt anyone and in fact, exposed war crimes but prosecutors used this video. it shows the notorious american al qaeda operative adam gadahn touting sites like wikileaks as helpful on the war in the west.

i look at it and i know that it can only be by one artist, which is edward atkinson hornel, who comesrkcudbright, which is just down the road. isn't it? correct. that's right. do you know quite a lot about him? well, the background is that... my mother's father, my grandfather, was a tailor in kirkcudbright, and he made the suits for hornel. hornel's suits. hornel was known not to be a regular payer of bills, so i understand. and once the bill got to £50, my grandfather really insisted that some payment had to be made, so instead of payment, he gave my grandfather this painting. quite typical of a lot of artists not to be able to pay their bills. but he's an interesting artist because he was born in australia in the 1860s and came over here to scotland, and studied in antwerp, and came back, and was really one of the glasgow boys. but what i find so interesting about him is that he went to japan in 1892 and, uh, was very influenced by the painting out there, and came back, and a lot of his pictures of that period, which is his best period, had japanese girls in them. this one here, we
