here in atlanta, i guess i have lived here 27 years now, during our first year here in atlanta, i metm i thought was the most charming man in the world. we moved in to gather, started college, a started to build a life within. not long after that is when the abuse began. he began to isolate me from my friends and family. he began to be little every single thing i did. then it became physically abusive. i felt trapped, even though my mother lived less than 10 miles away. i was afraid to tell her what was happening because for so many young women, there is an unfortunate culture of silence that sort of places they don't around what is happening in some of these homes. i remember a relative telling us when we were younger that what happens between that man and that woman is between batman and that woman. it is probably looking backed, the most unfortunate thing i've ever heard. it ended for me that i was stabbed in the back. there was a horrific beating where i was stomped and kicked, choked until i blacked out. i ran. i took an opportunity to run. i knew if i did not run, i was going to

nick valencia is in the cnn news room in atlanta. i know the families are starting post pictures of their familich and issue statements. >> some of the families have been very private about their loss. but some really want people to know about their loved ones. the family of jesse arecos -- jessica rekos said this -- jessica loved horses, she spent most of her time devoted to them, watching horse movies, drawing them, reading and writing about them. this christmas she asked santa for new cow girl boots and a cow girl hat. she loved playing, as most little kids do. she loved playing with her little brother travis and her little brother shane. as the first born of the family, her family says she was the rock. and it's difficult to imagine a life without her. it's hard for them, especially devastating for that family. and in a statement they said, erin, we are mourning her loss. sharing our beautiful memories we have of her and trying to help her little brother travis understand why he can't play with his best friend any more. jessica r

rob marciano is following it all from the cnn weather center in atlanta. a lot of rain headed their direction? >> yes. not as much as last week, but the ground is already sat ratur. napa valley has been getting hit hard. the russian river up and over flood banks. now they will ease back into the riverbeds, but with additional rainfall today, it may go back into flood stage there. there is the latest video showing a couple glimmers of sunshine, that was short-lived yesterday. how much rainfall have we seen in the last few days? in a six-day total almost two feet of rain at mount sast ta. sterling city, 21 inches of rainfall. sims, california, 17.9. this is tremendous rainfall for a nontropical area. it has a tropical connection, because it's coming from the direction of hawaii, but still a mid and northern latitude situation. seattle and portland seeing some rain, snow at the higher elevations. if anything is a saving grace, it's a little cooler this go-around, so some of the moisture getting locked up in higher elevations in the form of snow. most of that

you were most athletic and homecoming queen in atlanta? >> come on. where are you digging all this up? >> he has sources, lot of sources. >> i go deep in atlanta. >> the joke with the homecoming queen was the whole school voted and so my dad was like, you really cornered the seventh and eighth graders. and i loved playing sports. it's so neat to watch the transition. girls sports now is so huge. i was lucky enough to run at carolina. gpa was not the highest. top 48. i skated right in. >> you won hardship there. >> i won hardship. >> you got married age 24. >> i met my husband at 24 and we married at 29. together a long time. when you look back -- >> you have the cutest relationship. >> thank you. i literally got so lucky. thank godness i met him when i did. he's just the best. we all know marriage, you're just hanging on tight. i cannot believe how quickly the time has gone by, that we have the three kids and now both working. that's my new year's resolution is not about giving up sweets or working out. i want more time with my husband. >>
