[laughter] and we say yes we do, but in the course of five years and moved to kentucky, my mom moved obviously two years ago, my sister moved last year my biological father from who my mom had been divorced for 35 years, he packed up and left and moved up to lexington we still don't know why he's there. but he is, so suddenly we are all in this mile radius and my mom said the other day, it is the damnedest thing that i divorce that man 35 years

that being said, we stay prepared in atlanta through our welcoming atlanta office.and access to resources for those seeking to call atlanta home. so we certainly have to look at expanding programs that we already have in place. >> what would those programs be? >> well, one, we make sure that we try to partner those who are seeking asylum with people who can represent them pro bono. but what we also know, in atlanta our immigration court in atlanta has one of the highest denial rates for people seeking asylum. so we are already having to stand in the gap and provide resources. even when i signed the executive order, we provided through our partner with uber transportation for families to see family members who were being held in other parts of the state. and so we try and make sure that we have access to resources that allow them to apply for jobs, that allow them to learn english as a second language. we'll look to expand those programs and resources if necessary, but, again, this is a reminder that elections matter. >> we'll leave it there for now. keisha lance bot

he's live in atlanta. jonathan? >> yeah, shep.ous and fluid situation. the gunman is still barricaded inside the home in stockbridge about 20 miles to the southeast of downtown atlanta. police believe at least two people are in the home, including a 16-year-old male. they're trying to negotiate his release with a gunman. police say the gunman indicated he would release the teen. authorities say that has yet to happen. two officers were shot, both victims in their 30s. they were taken to grady memorial hospital in downtown atlanta. that's the big level 1 trauma center in the region. one officer taken by helicopters, the other by ambulance. both are in stable condition. authorities say they suffered nonlife threatening injuries. that news comes as a relief. this went down around 10:46 a.m. police tried to enter the home when gun fire erupted. police say the two officers did not return fire. they were struck. one in the upper torso, the other in the hand. both nonlife threatening injuries. police say the suspect may have been armed w

jonathan serrie is live in atlanta. the biggest threats from the storm right now. >> yeah, right now if you look at the warnings in effect, there's tornado warnings in effect in portions of north carolina and virginia. although this storm is perfectly exact of producing tornadoes, when you look at the damage that it's already done, it appears that straight-line winds have been responsible for much of the damage. on the florida panhandle, the leon county sheriff's office says a tree fell on a house injuring two children. one of the victims was pronounced dead at the hospital. in mississippi, a resident took a photo showing cars flipped over in a walmart parking lot in clinton, outside of jackson. storm conditions are blamed for two traffic fatality. in leon county, texas, trees and power lines are down. a man and his pregnant wife were treated in a mobile home because of winds. in alabama, authorities confirmed that a woman was killed after heavy winds caused a tree to fall on her mobile home in st. claire county, locate
