now that's affecting the mid-atlantic and the northeast for the rest of the day. here is the low pressure system. one way to look at the strength or intensities of these lows is to look at the central pressure. from this morning to tomorrow morning in a 24-hour period, the central pressure of this low pressure system drops about 25 millibars in 24 hours. a meteorological tharpe forecasters use called bomogenesis. that drop in pressure. it gives testament to the strength of this system. before it's all over for the rest of the day into tonight, an additional 5 to 8 inches of snow running from west of washington, d.c. right up across the mid-atlantic, and when you get into interior new england, you're looking at as much as 12 to 18 inches of snow in some areas. the saving grace here, right along the coast. enough warm air gets in to drop the snowfall significantly in places like cape cod running down along the coast here. a big storm. continue to watch it throughout the rest of the day. it's not going to clear the u.s. coast until sometime friday afternoon. back to
