hurricane dorian is one of the most powerful storms ever recorded in the atlantic.nal space station. these are shots from the ground in grand bahama and abaco. the storm hit at category 5 strength with winds up to 270 kilometres an hour. it's now a category four. it's left a path of destruction. as many as 13,000 homes may have been destoyed or damaged. it is difficult to make out exactly what is happening that you can see the energy that the storm has brought to the islands. official reports that one person has died. that figure may go up. what is making this storm worse is that it is moving extremely slowly. it's moving at 1.6 kmph — that's below walking pace. here's one student who lives in the city of freeport. the winds are terrifying right now and it is expected to be like this for at least the next 12 — 2a hours. we have been hearing about a lot of flooding. that is all we have been hearing, terrifying waves and reports of a lot of flooding from other areas around the island. the bahamian prime minister hubert minnis has tweeted: here he is speaking a little
