this is ocean city but just to the north in atlantic city we have some rain. atlantic city especially toward airport and couple of these showers are drifting down toward ocean city. it is looking glummy, it doesn't look like it is raining there yet but people are taking a stroll. but very humid just about every where. those humidity levels will continue to rise as we go through next couple days. lets take a look at storm scan three. you can see what we have going on. the there is that shower over atlantic county. zooming in you can see how heavy rain is pushing further tout south here. steady rain around egg harbor city, mckey city, same place it has been over past hour or so but pushing further south toward shore communities absecon, atlantic city. this could drift toward sea isle, ocean city eventually as it pushes south. it may fizzle and tie out but definitely something to watch down the the shore. heading in southern delaware we will see this rain moving south in maryland but still pretty steady rain southeastern delaware and we have two flood advisories for these

very steady rain there and further south along atlantic city expressway and egg harbor we are seeing heavy rain. lightening is popping up in parts of the atlantic county and in cape may county as well and starting to rain in atlantic city and down through ocean city and shore towns to the south of that. heavy rain right in the middle of the cape may county around middletown ship right now and then some pockets of heavy rain in southern delaware including lewis delaware. other even of the cape may lewis ferry there heavy rain at the moment. that is where the rain is here's where it is going this frontal system will continue new until 8:00 to move off shore. we will get a break and see sunshine here and there and that will allow enough instability to build up that we have pop up thunderstorms anytime after 12:00 noon today but more toward three or 4:00. these will be isolated, but you may not get one and it could last through the evening hours those thunderstorms, and easing up, rest of the day of precipitation. well and allentown 65 degrees in mount pocono, and, temperatures in the 40's last week. well the stickies are back. 71 degrees in philad

very much so they are causing some problems from philadelphia all the way down the atlantic city expressway towards atlanticcity. there is the ac expressway right there. it is right over the ac expressway. the white horse pike black horse pike affected. flood advisory for those areas around 9:15 because the rate of rainfall one to two inches per hour and it hasn't been moving that much so we've gotten that much rain one to two inches in just an hour. showers around philadelphia pretty much died out. one shower around williamstown is still there. and the one storm that was in southern delaware that caused the flood advisory that has moved down to the south into maryland. so that's a good sign too. as we go through tomorrow nothing more than an isolated shower again, but then as we head into thursday the atmosphere starts getting a little more moist along with the heat and humidity that sheena just showed you where it's feeling like 100 degrees, could get some thunderstorms during the afternoon, then drier air starts to come in behind it and that sets us up for lower humidity friday but it's not going to be t

saw the thunderstorms roll through philadelphia first thing this morning. the line of storms moved on into new jersey. a light rainfall for philadelphia now. look at the heavy downpours in ken the county and moving towards sussex county across delaware bay and into south jersey burlington county gloucester camden counties have seen the rainfall. now it's cumberland into atlantic county getting the rain. so far cape may and atlantic city is dry. that's a temporary situation. that line is on its way to you. mostly cloudy day. won't be an all-day rainfall but occasional showers and thunderstorms. in fact, there's a good chance of more storms popping up as we head into the afternoon hours. clouds, 80s this afternoon. up to 87 degrees in philadelphia possible if we get a little bit more sunshine. otherwise it will be in the middle 80s today. that changes tomorrow. sunshine will be bright hot and humid. 91 degrees. that's the first day of what will likely be an extended heat wave. 96 wednesday and really steamy on thursday. the humidity takes a leap and that will help fuel some late-day showers and thunderstorms thursday. not quite as hot, nor as humid on friday 92 the >> reporter: pennsylvania state police say they know very well what could have happened with this chase. >> he was wanted for armed robbery with a weapon. he's immediate threat to the public. we had to get him off the road. >> reporter: oaklyn new jersey officers followed the white van driven by robert ritter as he heads for the walt whitman bridge and they alert pennsylvania state police. >> of course we want to try to end the pursuit as soon as we can. however, if there's not a safe opportunity to do so we are not going to do so. >> reporter: the corporal supervised the chase as the van came into philadelphia then went back to new jersey blowing through intersections. >> the last thing you want to do is hit another vehicle during a high speed pursuit. >> reporter: also analyzing the chase, law enforcement expert who says new jersey police clearly thought about knocking the van off the road. >> it's a residential neighborhood. what is the cost/benefit analysis to me conducting a pitch maneuver? that's what's going through this officer's mind. >> reporter: that precision mobilization technique would come into play after robert ritter avoided a tire flattening spike strip and box trap. >> you want to keep it in tight quarters with all vehicles to have that individual have no out. >> reporter: as the van comes back to philadelphia and exits i-95 near the airport, state police said it was time. >> the trooper actually got permission to use the pit maneuver. i granted permission. >> reporter: you assessed the situation to see if you are going to have this vehicle veer off and take out more lives or property. that was a perfect textbook pit maneuver. while no gun was recovered from robert ritter, our law enforcement expert grades all three responding departments an average b-plus because he says that box trap didn't work but he rounds the grade up to an a because he says that pit maneuver did. i'm doug shimell, nbc 10 news. >>> nbc 10 has learned the man police say was behind the wheel of the van was wanted for stolen briefs. this is robert ritter the camden county man who led last night's police pursuit for two hours in two states. police say ritter shoplifted underwear worth about $20. he was caught on surveillance video inside brown's shop-rite. brooklawn police say ritter assaulted a loss prevention officer to get away with the underwear. nbc 10 uncovered copies of ritter's arrest warrant and complaint detailing $20,000 in outstanding warrants including violating a restraining order earlier this month. >> he's well known to law enforcement and he has ran from us before. >> ritter also is accused of stalking and harassing a woman who works in gloucester township less than 15 days after getting out of jail. nbc 10 is working to learn when he will be extradited to new jersey. >>> this chase spanned three different counties in new jersey and philadelphia. keith jones was on the ground last night following the chase. he joins us to give us more perspective on just how dramatic this chase was. >> reporter: many people watched the chase from sky force 10. we streamed it live on the nbc 10 news app. it started in oaklyn camden county. keep in mind the whole time police are on his tail. he goes over the walt whitman bridge right here down 95 gets off, wraps around the stadiums and gets right back on 95. goes right back over the walt whitman bridge. this time however, goes down 295 south to the black horse pike, gets off. he goes right back up and around, gets back on to 676 and wraps around camden. let me do that. wraps around camden. gets off, comes back on 676 and this time he's headed farther south. 42 south all the way down to the deptford mall. in fact he gets off and gets in the parking lot of the deptford mall. we thought when we followed him in that he was done for right there but he still eluded police. comes right back up 42 this time passes the walt whitman bridge all the way up to the ben franklin bridge right here and what does he see? atlantic city millville, dover, stone harbor. temperatures there right below that 70 degree mark. locally, the heavy rain has really cleared out from this morning. it's all well offshore. in parts of south jersey in atlantic county just north of atlantic city, this is where we still have light rain. across the a.c. expressway light rain and right along slaughter beach and points farther north, milford seeing light to moderate rain. this will be moving offshore from the delaware beaches very soon. if we take a wider look you see all the clouds all the rain and basically this weather pattern is for the most part going to stay in place over the weekend. this is an area of moisture that's going to be stuck to our south and eventually by part of the weekend, trying to work its way to the north a little before trying to clear out. as we go through time there's going to be rain in the forecast for your weekend but for the rest of this evening, i think we will be on the mostly dry side. can't rule out an isolated shower. tomorrow, if you are starting your holiday weekend early, 2:00 in the afternoon we could see isolated showers around. not a washout tomorrow. saturday more clouds start to move in. saturday morni
