east winds are holding the high temperatures short in atlantic city. here are these thunderstorm cells off to the west. the trajectory is to push them to the south. there are the east winds. here is the cold front. the warm air has been pushed a little farther west. we are right under that front right now. those of you in northeast maryland and eastern shore may not warm up quite as much as everybody else. the real rainmaker is going to be this cold front in iowa and illinois it, coming out of the great lakes. this is a little complex that warmed up in the warm air. this will be ahead of this cold front to the west of us. a big chunk of the nation is very warm in the noon hour today. or cloudiness and rain chance is to the west of us. some of that is going on right now. it might get a little closer to us. we might want to favor these mid-70's, and for many of you, it may not even get that warm up today at the farther east you are. temperatures today -- we warm up here but we also see the eastern shore quite a bit cooler. tonight, temperatures drop down

on top of atlantic city.s being battered right now. >> right. >> aqueduct just opened in new york. and the whole mid-atlantic region is booming with new casinos. so it's going to effect everyone including foxwood's and mohegan. >> how much is this being driven -- you mentioned with public revenues in dire straits, i guess resistance or criticism of gambling somewhat fallen by the wayside in favor of just getting the mo lar. are we addicted to gambling? is this a bad thing? >> i think, to me, you can say it's an unfortunate way to raise public revenue, but it's not an ineffective way to raise public revenue. when you see what's happened in connecticut, the state has benefitted by $6 billion directly from the slots payouts at or the slots revenues at fox wood's and mohegan. that's a lot of money. >> yeah. >> and then there's the 20,000 jobs. you can say where this is unfortunate, but it's not necessarily nothing. that's money. >> michael, thank you very much for joining us. and up next, another shot of hopium f

atlantic city not so much.ive us a sense as to what you are seeing given so much of your business is obviously here in the u.s. >> it's encouraging starting with vegas which is in the midst of a nice recovery driven by all facets of the business, the recovery of the business which we can predict now. strong activity in all the other forms of revenue. atlantic city has been the victim of a tremendous increase in competition. stability is a goal in atlantic city. nobody is expecting a heroic result there. we did result improvements. >> trips were down, i believe, but spending was up certainly when it comes to vegas. is the turn around really in place there? >> it certainly. we are seeing very substantial improvements in cash flows as are our competitors in las vegas. >> room rate was about $90 up 7%. >> the demand that comes first from the convention and meeting business allows better pricing. >> you also have project renewal in place which is a nice way of saying you are cutting expenses. >> it is really asking
