investigation tonight into what has appears to have been a very violent shooting on the atlantic city expressway between the occupants of two vehicles. a third vehicle is also being sought tonight in the intense investigation of the expressway shooting that has left many here stunned. from the looks of the bullet-riddled s.u.v., it's amazing anyone survived. we counted as many as nine bullet holes not counting the windshield and the windows that were blown out. a rear tire was also shot out. the driver managing to drive into the wawa parking lot on the back rim. >> to ride on that rim like that, they must have been desperate to get out of there. >> reporter: four men inside the vehicle were wounded and rushed to atlantic city medical center for treatment. state police say another man was found shot dead inside a car traveling northbound on the garden state parkway just north of exit 38. investigators believe the shooting happened just before 3:00 eastbound on the atlantic city expressway around mile marker 11 and 12. >> situation where gunfire was being aimed at cars that were moving. obviously,

police say the man in this suv were involved in a shooting on the eastbound lanes of the atlantic city expressway near mile marker 11. shortly after the suv turned up, troopers located this car on the garden state parkway just north of the expressway exit. >> that vehicle was pull over, it had a driver who was un injured, but unfortunately it, had a male passenger who was fatally injured. he had been shot also in the head. >> police say the two had some sort of connection to one another, but they're not saying what at this time. meanwhile, police also recovered weapons from a third location close to these scenes. and shutdown part of the a.c. expressway last night to investigate. but that's not all. police are also looking into whether more people and more vehicles are involved. police are not yet willing to talk about a motive for the shooting, but they say, what happened here was not random. >> we believe at this point that the people involved in this shooting new each other, had a that of that this was not a random act. >> still very scary scenario for drivers on the atlantic city expressway y

it was a rolling shootout down a busy atlantic city expressway. new jersey state police say that when the bullets stopped flying four people were injured. in this ford explorer found in egg harbor township. they found four weapons, three handguns and an ak-47 style assault rifle at the scene. down the street they found this nissan maxima pulled over and the passenger was dead of a gunshot wound and the passenger was not injured. after an extensive investigation into the night. so far five people have been charged with weapons offenses. police say that a black dodge ram pickup may also be involved. detectives are looking for the vehicle and the occupants. it was last seen getting off the expressway in the pleasantville area. state police there will certainly be more charges in this case. including possible murder charges, but of course detectives are trying to gather ballistic evidence to see who fired the fatal shot. chad pradelli, channel 6 "action news." >> all right chad thank you. we are following more breaking news from chester county this af

source, and he told me that it appears that this started with some sort of incident on the atlantic city expressway. that incident then spilled over and the people involved getting off the atlantic city expressway, the nearest exit here is exit 9 in egg harbor township right by the airport and somehow ended up with these victims driving to this wawa parking lot outside the airport. that's what we know right now. now, mean phil, new jersey state police tell us they have an incident on the garden state parkway near exit 38. that's also in egg harbor township where there is a person in a vehicle who is injured. the extent of that person's injuries not clear at this time. also, it is unclear if that is related to this incident here in the wawa parking lot. this multiple shooting where the people involved ended up in the wawa parking lot, but that is certainly something that is being explored right now. any possible connection to all of these scenes. at least two scenes that we know of here in the egg harbor township. one at the wawa parking lot and one on the garden state parkway. according to ems sour
