>> reporter: women, the atlantic county prosecutor's office major crimes unit was called in by atlantic first officers arrived here around 5:30, responding to a 911 call from the hospitality staff. the problem in a guest room up on the 37th floor of one of the two towers here. and the call was made by the staff, after a couple, man and woman in a room, up there on the 37th floor, did not leave as scheduled at the check-out time. and it was a man dead, and a woman hurt, we're told, that was the information given to the first call. the prosecutor showed up, eventually did talk to the reporters late last night, but would not say much beyond saying that this is a death investigation. would not say whether foul play is suspected, or whether it was a drug-related death, like overdose, or possible domestic attempted murder suicide. he did say this wasn't a random crime, so no one here at the drop has reason to worry of any further crime. meaning, it was all contained to that one guest room. >> active investigation. our investigators are taking control of the scene. >> people that were involved

and immediately, did what's protocol down here at the shore, they called in the atlantic county majormes unit. and just as protocol, they don't just investigate crimes, i want to just tell you, they also investigate drug-related deaths, and overdoses. so, what was this? well, when the prosecutor finally showed up to talk to the gathered media. he was not going to give many details about what they new so far. but he did seem to want to get the word out, there was no other danger to the rest of the people staying in this peak summer week packed hotel. >> it is certainly not random. i would definitely say that the public should not have any concerns, as far as, you know, any spree or anyone that would jeopardize their safety, this seems limited in and contained to the event that happened in the particular room. >> so that would leave through common sense and our experience doing this for 30 something years that is either a drug-related incident, or an attempted murder suicide, or some kind of domestic situation that was all contained to one room. that's why he wanted to just get that out
