toms river police are warning the public to be careful after two different atm robberies in town. one happened at this bank of america on route 37, a berkeley woman just entered the pin number in the machine, they came up behind her and said this is a robbery, and pushed her. >> the suspect was in his late 20s wearing a wool hat and brown jacket. the second happened 7:40 many. a 19-year-old toms river woman was approaching to make a deposit when she was surprised from behind. he put his hand near his waist band and thought he had a gun although he did not show one, you can see the suspect here scooping up the money, both victims complied which is what police want you to do. >> it's not worth your life for a few dollars it's not getting hurt. police are urging residents to be vigilant especially after business hours, do a loop around the parking lot and if you don't feel safe leave. >> makes me look around before i use my card. i watch when i get out of the car. >> the bottom line is you need to be aware of the surroundings wherever and whenever you use an atm. if you recognize the

police said they set up skimming devices at dozens of atms. katherine creag is in flushing with what you need to know. a lot of people don't know what these are and how it impacts out of an atm you don't know it is there according to police. it is incredible to know how much money three suspects have gotten away with. $50,000. it happened here. police put out the photos of at least three men that they are looking for. there are several suspects, in fact, police are hunting for. police released the photos of these three suspects who got away with $50,000 in the past several months, money from innocent people. police say they installed debit card skimming devices at gas stations and other places. they withdraw money from their bank accounts in flushing and in bay side in queens. 39 times between june and september of this year. the nypd is also looking at 20 similar thefts from other suspects in queens and also the bronx. a skimming device was also used. news 4 investigates have found these crimes have jumped in last year. we'll talk about that

"today in new york's" katherine creag is in flushing. >> reporter: good morning. three suspects got away with $50,000 over a four-month period. they happened in different kinds of stores. gas stations and bodegas. police released the photos of three suspects that they are looking for, these three men used the skimming devices to steal money from innocent people. they obtained the debit card information and pin number of customers and withdraw money from their bank accounts in flushing and also bay side queens. again, those three men got away with $50,000 in the past four months. 39 times in all between june and september of this year they struck. the nypd is also looking at 20 similar thefts from other similar suspects in the queens 23450us discovered that last year 16 reports of skimming happened. this year over the same time period the number has quadrupled to 63. that's why investigators are trying to put the word out there, darlene. investigators also suggesting to customers that
