this plane, the atr-72. the twin turbo prop is designed to fly safely on one engine.here were problems with both. let me walk you through. the entire flight lasted less than three minutes. the pilots clearly grappling with a lot. the emergency started after takeoff. they had an emergency with the right engine. then there was a conversation about the left engine and maybe shutting it down. the data does show the second engine was eventually shutdown. investigators saying at that point, there was no thrust from either engine on the plane. this is when we heard the critical call to air traffic control. mayday. engine flameout. about 30 seconds after that call a discussion john among the crew about restarting one of the engines. at that point, 30 seconds before the end of the cockpit voice recording, it was too late. we have seen the harrowing pictures of the plane turning and clipping the overpass with not only the wing but the tail section and ending up in the water. john anlot of information coming out 48 hours after the crash. investigators not saying exactly why it h
