we now have on the phone cbs producer chily atwood. what can you tell us? >> i can tell you i was here at the marathon. i was standing there. on my left a huge explosion went off. we ran to the right and then we saw the second explosion. it looked like it was coming out of the store front. suddenly there were four people on the ground around us and a police officer carrying a child in his hands. i have some photos of those. i'm not sure if anyone has died yet. more reports will be coming. >> was there child injured as best you can tell? >> yes. it was a young boy. he looked like he was about 3 years old. >> now, kiley, help us understand where was the explosion as it relates to the finish line? there's a photo stand where photographers take pictures of the winners. is that roughly where the explosion was? >> yeah. it looks like the first one went off right next to the finish line. the second one went off if one off. it was meter can the explosions sounded like and what, if anything, did you see? >> the f ally loud noise. it almost sounded like it was a cele

another reporter who was at the scene during the explosion was kiley atwood, a cbs news producer. she was on boylston street. kiley, what did you see? >> scott, i was there, i was in between the two bombs. so when the first one went off i was directly to the right of it and we heard a loud explosion, looked around and saw smoke. that's when we knew that something had gone wrong. we heard screaming, yelling, people started running. and i actually ran in the direction of the other bomb. unfortunately ran directly towards that and that's when we started seeing young children being carried by their parents, being carried by police. we also saw some people on the ground. we saw blood all over. it was a really horrific, scary, scary scene. and right now i'm standing in copley square in boston and this medical tent is where everyone was brought when they were hurt and these people are truly, truly the heroes today because they were the ones who had to deal with everything and we talked to a lot of people who were not physically hurt but mentally devastated and panicked by what they saw.

this was told to one of our reporters, kylie atwood.and that they decided to detonate that device rather than let it go off, of course, on its own. now that's one report but there was the sound of the third explosion about half an hour ago. and we're told that that was deliberately done by the boston police department to clear another device. there has not been any official confirmation that bombs caused these explosions. but the boston marathon officials are describing them as bombs. and we are expecting to hear from the boston police department in a news conference in 10 or 15 minutes time. bob orr has been talking to his sources in washington. bob, what do you know now? >> scott, i want to be careful here and take you through this very slowly so bear with me. but after the event, the government started looking at all intelligence sources and started to comb through every potential source of information. and so far at this point they do not see anything in the aftermath of the explosions in boston that lead them to think that this was
