audrey barnes is in the newsroom with more. >>> it's been a few years since he was gunned down. the reward for information in the case doubled to $50,000 she hopes it helps police catch her son's killer. she poured her heart out in letters to the community and today, the chief of police and dozens of cadets helped her hand deliver them. police cadets armed with flyers and a letter from melvin fields' mother fanned out on to moore street today trying to help solve his four-year-old murder. >> and that is across the street. >> reporter: seals was shot dead on morstreet in april in 2008, at the height of the gang wars in trinidad. his murder is the only one still unsolved and his mother walked the street where her son died with police chief kathy lanier and dozens of recruits, hoping someone will feel compelled to break their silence. >> people want to talk. they want to but they afraid and you have to understand that. i need closure and i don't think you should allow a murderer to stay on the street. >> and that means a lot that you're hopefully what will be closure. >> reporter:

. >> police say they have found the body of the suspected gunman nearby, fox 5's audrey barnes live at the scene. what do you know? >> reporter: a custodian found bodies of two women in the office here at st. peter's church. he called 911 and said both of them appeared to have been shot. one of the women was pronounced dead on the scene, the other taken to shock trauma with a gunshot wound. she is listed in critical condition tonight. as police were going through this church anded surrounding area investigating this case, they found the body of a man in the woods nearby. he appears to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. at the shooting here at st. peter's church it's 1/2-mile from howard county police headquarters. >> obviously it's a little unsettling. >> reporter: brad puttner has lived next to the church two years now and often waved and talked to the people who worked in that office. he's now wondering if somehow they may be involved in this tragedy. >> at first my thought was that the shooter is on the loose and then it sounded like it was, you know, a murder suicide fr

we'll start our team coverage with audrey barnes. >> by early afternoon, chuck brown's manager confirm what many feared was coming for weeks. the legendary singer and guitarist was dead. it didn't take long for radio stations to start playing all the hits and for people to take to the streets to remember him. an impromptu vigil at the howard theater swelled to the hundreds. fans and friends of d.c. great, chuck brown, gathered to remember him. radio station, wkys pumped out a stream of his songs. brown was supposed to hold a concert at the howard last month, but had to cancel when he fell ill. >> he just put d.c. on the map. >> on the ♪ [ musical map, that is. he helped launch a new genera in d.c. called go-go. busting loose grew his fan base over time. brown received his first grammy nomination in 2010 for a duo called love. his family is asking for privacy, but not before thanking his many loyal fans. >> family is very devastated at this time. so my dad's manager will come out with an official statement. we thank this great city for loving chuck brown as much as they loved chuck brow

audrey barnes is in the newsroom to get us started. >> this is another big break for detectives in prince george's county. last week they broke up a perfume and cosmetic ring and arrested a couple women involved in that. now they've taken three men into custody for a robbery at a fast food restaurant that could be related to several others. the crime spree started friday, may 11th, and continued through sunday the 13th. 7-eleven convenience stores, gas stations and fast food restaurants from bowie to capitol heights were the target. police arrested three men in connection with saturday's armed robbery at this mcdonald's on ritchie road. >> doing a string of robberies. it was basically one or two suspects who went into the establishment armed with a handgun and robbed the establishment of store funds. >> reporter: there's no surveillance tape of the mcdonald's robbery, but this video was captured at one of the others. the suspects wore masks and carried semiautomatic handguns, but tips still came in after the pictures were broadcast. the arrests are welcome news for neighbor lynnette floyd
