audrey barnes has the latest. >> reporter: 14-year-old jonathan is charged as an adult with first-degree murder in the death of his seven-month-old sister larissa. and police say the 31-year-old left her 14-year-old son in charge of her unfant daughter when she went to work at 1030 tombd this night. when she tried to wake the 7- year-old the next morning to feed her, she was unresponsive. someone called paramedics and police. >> before we could get there, the child was transported by fire rescue to holy cross hospital where she was pronounced dead. an investigation determined she did have injuries on her body and detectives and medical personnel determined that she could not have inflicted the injuries on herself. >> reporter: and investigators question the child's 49-year- old brother, the last person to see her alive. >> he admitted that he had beaten her and that also -- then also put his hands over her, over her nose and mouth when she began to cry. >> reporter: he's charged as an adult with first-degree murder and because he's being charged, does that mean that investigators believe

at this moment officers are at the scene at the 600 block of audrey lane. >> is such a sad story out here tonight. where this 3-year-old has been pronounced dead. police have been on the scene since 7:40 p.m. the investigation centers on that car. the car that hit the 3-year-old according to police. that 3-year-old was taken to the hospital. he was pronounced dead. here is video we took after got here tonight. according to police the 3-year- old boy was in the car with his grandmother. all of a sudden the father noticed the car was starting to roll backwards. that is when the father attempted to take action and a plea spokesperson takes it from there. >> the father who was not in the vehicle attempted to regain control which at some point the 3-year-old fell out of the vehicle and was struck by the vehicle. >> i did not think nothing like that would happen. >> the 3-year-old was pronounced dead. the father dropped his 2-year- old girl that he was holding. she only had minor injuries and will be ok. a 3-year-old dead at a local hospital. >> also we have an exclusive i- team investigat

that's when audrey smoot of indi indiana university brings her back down to earth.rey won the first heat just before heather's, besting heather's time by slightly more than 1/10 of a second, but she didn't fall down. >> she's like, i actually won. i was like, oh, sorry, i'll just scoot on over to take second there. it was just one of those funny things, that i was just on cloud nine and thought i'd won everything, and it took someone to say, hey, move over! >> heather's second place overall finish in the 600 meters adds a crucial eight points to minnesota's team total. >> eight points was exactly the margin of our victory for the team that day. so it's kind of a happy coincidence that if i hadn't gotten up and finished the race, we would have lost or tied. >> heather graduates from the university of minnesota in december 2009, but coach wilson will never forget heather's golden moment. >> she's got the heart of a lion. we may never see that again, ever, in our lives, something of that nature. >>> coming up, speedboaters make a hard left, and then exit stage right. >

say a 3-year-old boy was behind his family's car when it started drifting backwards last night on audrey lane in oxon hill. the father who was carrying his 2-year-old daughter at the time dropped the girl and jumped into the car to try to stop it. it was too late, though. the boy was hit and died from his injuries. the little girl also suffered serious injuries. >>> this morning, five men are in custody in connection with the murder of a 15-year-old boy in prince george's county while police are still searching for the gunman who killed two other teens in the county. all five of these men face charges in charles walker jr.'s murder. officers say the suitland high school freshman was shot and killed monday over a pair of shoes he was carrying. they don't believe his murder is related to the shooting deaths of two other teens. one of whom was also a student at suitland high school. aaron kidd and andre shuford was shot tuesday in the parking lot of a forestville apartment. kids died on the scene. shuford passed away yesterday. >>> eight days stand between us and the looming sequester cuts.
