that was the aurora borealis. can you say that with certainty?s a huge geo magnetic storm on the sun, which was this blast. it was like a huge eruption of energy coming off the sun yesterday afternoon. it went blasting into space at millions of miles an hour. it took a couple hours to get to earth. all these charged particles hit the atmosphere. around the north pole, we have the northern lights. this was such an energetic magnetic burst from the sun, it caused the aurora to be seen this far south and across the country from maryland all the way into central california. quite not amazing sight. here this morning, the big story is the chill that has descended upon us. under a clear sky after we had a few showers going through overnight. they're long gone now. we're down into the 40s to just near 50 degrees most locations. although manassas, the airport there, down to 39. it's just near 40 in culpeper. it's in the upper 30s central shenandoah valley and out into eastern parts of west virginia and western maryland, down into the mid-40s. mid-40s muc
