dianne starting to move west, away from the coast of australia. that's exactly what we want it to do. if it continues this way, shouldn't be too much of a problem. the rain is starting to move out of coastal areas. still need to keep an eye on it because these systems are unpredictable. but it started to pick up the pace, which is a very good sign. we still have ex-tropical cyclone carlos to deal with and this one could be a little more of a problem. it's right here just about to move onto the warm waters of the gulf. when it does that it will get a boost of energy, probably turning into a cyclone again, probably during the overnight hours of saturday into sunday. when that happens we'll see winds picking up again. anyway, we're seeing heavy rain at the moment continuing right across the coast, moving from the northern territory into western australia. you can see the heavier blob of pink showing you where the heaviest of the rain will be. flooding continues to be an issue as we head on into the weekend. i want to take you to eastern asia and show

now australia. we've been keeping an eye last week on western australia.l, now we are keeping an eye on the east. in the coral sea we have this very well developed system. this will be tropical cyclone ayasi that did develop yesterday. we are looking at it heading westward right toward the northern end of queensland and it's moving at a pretty good pace too. 40 kilometers per hour and wind speeds at 155 kilometers per hour. wind gusts are even topping 200. this is a strong storm system that and it's still in fact intensifying and forecasts are calling for it to become a category 4 cyclone in the next 12 to 24 hours. it will start approaching the coastline. winds will start getting pretty high here during wednesday and into the afternoon hours. so we do want to watch out that. and of course the rain in the next 72 hours. heavy impacts of rain will start impacting coastal areas. take precautions and keep updated with local watches and warnings. now, another stormy area is going to be the midsection of the united states. we've got a major storm system that's

now for australia, of course, queensland has been dealing with that storm system.asi has now weakened, it's a tropical low but gathering quite a bit of strength. winds are still going to be gusty for parts of the northern territories today. gusts could hit about 95 kilometers per hour. watch out. that could cause some damage. and then there's the rain to contend with. in the next 72 hours, seeing the bulk of the heavy rain move into the central areas of australia and coastal areas of queensland will remain unsettled into the weekend. perhaps not as heavy as when the storm hit, but it's not going to dry out right yet. that could exacerbate the flood conditions. you want to watch out for that, as well. for north america, the united states is looking more settled in the east as the snowstorm pulls away. however, we still see quite a bit of tropical moisture in the gulf coast. showers, thunder showers for these states here. back towards texas and louisiana, you are going to see a chance of snow and it's still pretty cold here. speaking of snow, that will be spreading a

2 system, and it's just off the west coast of australia here. getting very, very close to the coastline, as you can see in the next 24 hours. now, it will continue to maintain that strength as a category 2 cyclone, but expected to reach category 3 status by the time it reaches the indian ocean here. so this entire region, coastal areas looking at the threat for very strong winds, damaging winds, including that as well. and also of course a heavy rainfall is also anticipated. in and around exmouth in the next 24 hours. looking at up to 100 millimeters to occur in and around exmouth and isolated areas could see more than that. more than 200 millimeters anticipated. so that will certainly contribute to a significant stream rise and that will lead to localized flooding as something to watch out for here. for eastern asia, a high pressure system is still with us, keeping things bright and sunny across japan. temperatures warming up nicely here. and across the korean peninsula as well. and then into china we've got these clear conditions throughout. t

it destroyed homes and crops in northeastern australia. some towns that were devastated were evacuated before the cyclone hit with torrential rain and unbelievably winds up to 170 miles an hour. >> all right, folks. you have seen them. you have seen the cold temperatures across much of the united states. and we are basking in sunshine in most areas. this morning minor changes. mostly clear skies, chilly out the door. numbers in the 30s and 40s, just above freezing inland. we have patchy fog at the coast. temperatures may come down a couple of degrees. not bad though. still temperatures as we head into the afternoon some 50s and 60s in the warmest spots inland. plenty of sunshine inside the bay. some 50s and low 60s out at the coast a couple of patches of fog but not bad. and then looks like things going to get going with the sunshine. but you have a weak system diving in across the state bringing high clouds and then you begin to notice some of the patchy fog at the immediate coastline. that will probably help to cool down the temperatures
