meteorologist ava dinges has the latest from accuweather.st want to hear is word snow. i'm going to be saying it a lot in this forecast. at least this storm won't be the monster we dealt with over the christmas holiday. we are going to see a heavy shot of snow. whether it be in new york city, starting after the morning commute, continuing into the afternoon hours. that snow building into boston in the afternoon. we'll see a heavy band of snow back into upstate new york. widespread travel concerns. slippery spots on the interstates, even the new york state thruway, even cancelations at some of the airports. this is a quick-moving storm, it comes in and moves out within much of the day. 4 inches in new york city. upwards of a half foot in albany. we're not going to see the wins we dealt with the christmas blizzard. so you may have some travel concerns out there but you're not going to see the widespread blowing and drifting. i think the big concern with this, where are they going to put all the snow? there are a lot of piles up around the east

good morning, ava. >> good morning, rob and vinita. as we've seen about 36 inches. we still have a couple more days of january to go. this is just contending the snowiest month ever in new york city, which actually happened last year. you remember what a doozy it was. well, we're getting close to that being the case, if not more as we go into these next couple of weeks. we do have more snow on the way. a quick-moving clipper out of canada brushing over pittsburgh and eventually getting toward the east coast, towards the afternoon. places like philly, new york city, maybe upwards of a coating to an inch. not a whole lot of snow but not welcome, nonetheless. another storm is on the way. this will be a quick mover and drop another light coating of snow across the east coast as we get into saturday. now, the thing to keep in mind, as we get more cold air coming in from the arctic through the next couple of days, it will steer the moisture down to the south. the storms down toward the south, more moisture available. we could see very heavy

. >> ava dinges is tracking the big storm. >> good morning, rob and vinita. what do you know? snow is returning to the northeast. cities like philadelphia and new york city got this down pat. but we are expecting some travel concerns as we go throughout the day, whether it be along i-80 and i-95. even though it's going to be three to six inches of accumulation, you need to take it easy for the slippery roadways. and even the airports, running into some delays and cancellations. the worst of the travel actually coming in across southern new england, from boston towards bangor, maine, that's where the storm is intensifying. about six to ten inches of snow just throughout friday. then the storm system exits into atlantic canada. and behind it, it will draw in some very cold air. air coming out of the arctic. the temperatures are dropping down in buffalo. high temperature at 20 degrees. 26 in syracuse. and although it's relatively looking mild across the east coast, new york at 37, we're going to see the temperatures dropping down into the evening hours. we look at the temperature

good morning, ava. >> good morning.s without saying that this winter has been relentless across the northeast coast. just to put it in perspective, now, as of 4 p.m. yesterday, normal snowfall as of this point in the year, about 10 inches. we've already gotten 40 inches and that was before what already fell over the nighttime hours. you put that all into perspective, we have basically gotten three times as much snowfall as we should have at this point. we still have another month or so of snowstorms to come. throughout the next couple of hours, snow is tapering off. new york city getting into 8 to 10 inches. outer suburbs, maybe a foot of snow. that's also a concern in boston. they'll be stuck in the very heavy snow throughout the next couple of hours. road travel is going to be an absolute mess. i think the airports are going to have a hard time catching up from this, even as we go into thursday. the snow tapers off and heads into canada. but here's looming in the forecast, a new snowstorm on the way. at least a few in
