employees -- and employees at ucb berkeley, i could go on and on and on about the grand marshals and awardees. they have contributed over 30 years to the lgbtq community. they have litigated and continue to fight for our community through the court system. putting out lgbtq queer and nonconforming images, and visibility, voices out there. john haines, who many of you know at city hall, he works tirelessly and volunteers and advocates for everyone here in the city of san francisco. they paved the way for freedom and liberation. the fair education act implementation coalition with our family coalition, of course, a lesbian gate freedom been, we would not sound so amazing if not for the lesbian gate freedom band. we thank each and every one of you for your service to our communities and i know many of you are here today and that was my script. thank you. i look forward to san francisco pride. award, i just want to say that at the end of the second presentation, we'll have a photo of the awardeesd with that, i'll turn it over to our wonderful new commissioner, commissioner sullivan. >> thank you, president bermejo. once anthony gives me the go ahead. so this evening, i'm pleased to present our second annual commission on the environment environmental service award to the tender loyloin district. today as we talk about the city's goal of sustain ability organization, it's fitting to recognize an organization that's working on the ground in the tennerloin neighborhood to keep our kids walking to school while building community. safe passage is a partner in the department's safe routes to school efforts. we will hear more about the safe routes to school later in the meeting, but basically, it supports an encourages kids and their families to choose sustainable modes of transportation such as biking, walking transit, and carpooling to school instead of driving alone or their parents driving alone, i guess. but how do we encourage thousands of school aged children in the tenderloin

out right now for another two years of grants to those awardees. we also highlighted a map that my team recently completed, looking at locations where seniors, as well as people with disabilities are injured, overlaid with attractors that senior particularly travel to which included senior centers, libraries, a paratransit locations as well as areas with high densities of senior injuries. we are excited to share this work to inform a proactive approach to prioritizing investments for seniors. we also talked about sfmta's recent policy change to increase senior pedestrian crossing time citywide and this was in response to a lot of the safe streets for seniors advocates who really helped elevate this issue to the city to helped proactively address signals city -- crossing at signals citywide moving forward. we will be evolving the traffic calming program to address some other locations, including a lot more community engagement. and finally, really, the seniors are the most disproportionately impacted population for vision zero, particularly pedestri

continue to bid is because it's very complicated and time-consuming to facilitate this process as an awardee, and i am also surprised that world journal is not include index th-- include in this list. and i think that's a problem. the whole thing is to make sure we are providing opportunities for newspapers, community newspapers to notice to the communities that they repair that they serve, an opportunity to know what is happening in the city and county of san francisco. we are in the process of talking about notification in item 26 and the need to make sure that neighbors are notified properly for the purposes of providing community feedback on these particular projects. and so i am not satisfied that the work was done to ensure that those smaller newspapers who should be included in this process are included. and even though i do know that there might have been a late submittal here and there, the whole point is to make it easier for these particular newspapers to have a seat at the table so that the outreach is done properly. and so i'm very concerned, and i would like to ask that we cont
