tonight drivers facing a holiday get awhich and looming storm. boy, is this bad timing in general to be on the road? >> yeah, it's pretty bad out here. the evening commute, the holiday traffic. it's a major recipe for gridlock and for the east bay out here for many people tonight sha, th nightmare started early. traffic at a stand still after a drywall mixture fell off of a truck and coated several lanes of the bay bridge. the truck's drover was cited and will be on the hook for the cost of the cleanup. just as that cleared, a new problem on the 880 interchange to the bay bridge. two trucks collided, causing a 12-car pileup before it overturned onto this red truck. the tow truck company showed us what remained of it. incredibly the driver only has mild injuries. >> he was able to move out of the way. he's very lucky. the last thing we want is death on the roadways, especially during the holiday season. >> reporter: the morning commute nightmare now giving way to the holiday get away. an estimated 10.9 million californians will be hitting the road
