. >> ayana, thank you so much. if you're just joining us, set the scene. we continue to follow breaking news on new york one. mayor adams has been indicted on federal charges alleging he took bribes and illegal campaign contributions from foreign sources. according to this indictment adams accepted tens of thousands of dollars in free flights and upgrades on turkeys national airline, state and luxury hotel suite and other matters such as a car at a traffic. prosecutors detailed steps adams took to cover up his conduct over the course of several years. back to when he was brooklyn borough president. the indictment alleges adams compounded his gains on these illegal contributions by gaming the city matching funds program which provides a match for small dollar donations. this alleges his campaign received more than $10,000 in this matching funds as a result of the false certifications. >> we also allege the mayor sought and accepted well over $100,000 in luxury travel benefits from some of the same foreign actors who arrangement of the illegal campaign contr
