and gop strategist whit ayres who has worked on a number of high profile campaigns over the years. welcome to both of you. here we are on the doorstep of super tuesday with this volatile republican primary. whit, where do things stand after michigan, after arizona going into super tuesday? is mitt romney a front runner? >> mitt romney is still the odds on favorite to win the nomination. but he's not the first choice of the most conservative wing of the party. that's pretty obvious right now. to say that, david, is not to say he's an unacceptable choice to those voters. they're going to go through every other alternative first before settling on him if they end up settling. >> one thing that struck me is in each contest so far as highly as the economy ranks as an issue, the biggest factor is still who can beat president obama. and the advantage is still clearly with romney there. >> it is. he's got the largest organization. he's got the most money. and while social media is really important these days, it's no substitute for organization and money as you go into super tuesday organi

there are many folks on the right who believe that about barack obama, they cite bill ayres and reverendght. is that really so controversial? >> look, she has every right to say it. the obama campaign has a right to create an ad and put it out there and let its followers decide to send in $5 or $25, which is what this is designed to do. it's not designed to be an aversion or -- a diversion or get the american people to look at something else. that i remember not piping this into millions of peoples -- >> go ahead, joe. >> but that's what's happening. this is not, you know, an ad that's running to change peoples' views, to change peoples' minds. it's rallying the base to say get involved, volunteer, send money in. we've got a fight on our hands. and i think that's all this ad was designed to do. sarah palin is the target of it, because she riles up a lot of people like me and others in the democratic base, and just as newt gingrich and others do that for the -- >> megyn: but that's the interesting question. >> as i do for a lot of the right. megyn: was there not enough for president obama
