b.w. parkway is part of a $9 billion roads proposal. it would add toll lanes to the beltway, i-270 and the,w parkway. for that to happen, the lawmakers must approve the move and the federal government would have to sign over control of the parkway. jonathan: admitting they had fewer votes than they thought, the republican leaders in the senate scrapped the latest attempt to repeal and replace obamacare. the came as the opponents of the graham-cassidy bill staged a die-in at the senate office building. mitch mcconnell said they would turn the attention to big crowds were outside the capitol rallying for dreamers. stephen tschida bringing us the message as congress struggles to find a way forward on immigration reform. stephen: they came to the nation's capitol from across the country, to call on congress for protection. >> we are here to push, to push, push, push. stephen: president trump voided daca, directive that protected children of illegal immigrants who had grown up in the u.s. from deportation. >> i wouldn't be able to follow my d

b.w. parkway to the maryland transit authority. the existing lanes will be toll-free. the new lanes will be toll lanes. the governor says this is something that has to happen. governor hogan: these three will n 495, 270 and 295 be absolutely transformative and will help maryland citizens go about their daily lives in a more efficient and safer manner. brad: all right. so what's happening today is that the state is reaching out to the federal government to try to begin this transfer of the b.w. parkway, and they're also telling this public-private partnership industry, the highway industry, that this is something they want to do. so there would be proposals and more proposals and things like that in probably about a year and a half process. they cannot say when they will be ready to break down. they are also not ready to say -- i say they, the governor and the head of the transportation department -- not ready to say whether they need additional land. the governor says he doesn't think so. he thinks the improvements can be made on t footprint of most of these roadways.

b.w. parkway but the improvements would come with a serious price tag and a catch. maryland bureau chief brad bell joins us from along the beltway to explain. brad? brad: yeah, well, the price tag is $9 billion. going to have to pay the tolls if you ride in the two new lanes that are added in each direction. the governor says look, this is a daily problem for so many people. it just has to be tackled. governor larry hogan says traffic is a d.c. region eats up too much time. costs too much money. >> today we are finally going to do something about it. >> after a transfer of ownership from the department of interior to the state, i-295. following the virginia beltway hot lanes model all of it is to be built and paid for through the public-private partnership with the companies which will finance $9 billion cost in exchange for future toll revenue.
