near broening highway in dundalk. there are no injuries reported. but this is a dangerous situation. you see this car submerged. police have sent in swift water rescues to the scene. the break is causing widespread floating throughout the neighborhood and a number of streets are flooded. several cars are submerged. some people using boats to get around. the break has also caused part of a two-lane road to wash away. you can see the homes are going to have water damage. we'll bring you more as it comes in. >>> back here in the district. do you remember a massive fire at this northwest d.c. mansion. firefighters complained about low water pressure and having trouble putting out the fire. it's not the first time it's happened and there are more than 9,000 fire hydrants in the district and dozens of them are out of service. now the city is trying to change that. karen gray houston takes a closer look at e problem. >> reporter: after the fire that destyed the peggy cooper cafritz mansion, a lot of d.c. residents wondered if their own neighborhood firhydrants were working. the good news is the fire department and wasa have teamed up to inspect all of the fire hydrants. ba da ba ba ba >>> faced with overwhelming complaints of voter fraud, afghanistan's presidential election results won't be finalized for weeks. voters cast their ballots a week ago. they expect to have a winner in a matter of days but now they are investigate hundreds of complaints. happened karzai is in the lead with a 54% margin. >>> three men convicted in a plot of killing thousands of passengers will spend 30 years in prison. a british court convicted them of trying to board explosives on flights. british police raid disrupted the plot and forced airport security to tighten restrictions on liquids gels on passengers. >>> the man accused of throwing his shoes at president bush is expected to be released from prison tomorrow. he is serving a sentence. his family says he was supposed to have been released today but there s a paperwork delay. they say they will camp outside of the jail until he is free. >>> suicide is suspected in the death of a fund-raiser linked to ousted governor blagojevich. police believe christopher kelly took a drug overdose. he pleaded guilty to fraud charges in two cases not related to blagojevich. he was facing eight years in prison and charged with fraud in a corruption case along with blagojevich. the illinois governor talked about the death on his radio show today. >> unlike most people and the circumstances he was in he just refused to make it easier on himself to lie about someone else and so now for my friend chris all his trials are now over. >> reporter: blagojevich will stand trial next june. >>> he health care battle has featured warriors on both sides of the issue but we haven't heard much from doctors and nurses. today maryland senator ben cardin met with the people on the front lines of the battle. claudia coffey was at washington adventist hospital to hear wheyishes they are worried about for your sake. >> reporter: this is the first meet and greet be physicians and nurses in the area and they had difficult questions for the senator. mabel had been a nurse on the front lines at washington adventist hospital for more than 13 years. she's seen the health crisis up close and agrees something needs to change. >> we see a lot of patients that come in and they are basically at the end stage of their illness because they have not beenble to get the proper health care because of their being uninsured. >> reporter: tough questions like this that they had today for senator ben cardin. it was a far cry from the rowdy town hall meetings the maryland senator and other elected leaders have seen in recent weeks. >> the debate among doctors and nurses is how to provide quality health care to all people without sending costs through the roof. >> a lot to be learned from the maryland hospital community. >> reporter: senator cardin said that president obama did a good job of calming fears and reiterated the thoughts today. >> i think the president laid it out with the facts. he told what we were trying to do on health care reform. want to get the costs down and make sure there is affordable quality care for all americans and do it in a fiscally response presidential way. >> reporter: some doctors say this particular bill doesn't deliver the type of health care reform the country needs. >> i think the house and the senate really has not done a great job of listening to the societies and to physicians about what is needed with regard to health care reform. >> senator cardin plans to hold more meet and greets with physicians in the coming weeks. >> thank you very much. >>> congress is expected to hold four debates on a health care bill within the next two weeks. >>> a little less than three weeks since ted kennedy's death. his memoir is bound for store shelves and surrounding the release, patrick kennedy, his son, is talking about what made his father tick. he says he believes his father's work was dedicated to making up for the death of mary jo. she drown in ' 69 when kennedy drove off of a bridge and left the scene. >>> well, what a way to start the workweek. did you go outside today? >> she wasn't a groupie? >> not a football fan? >> no, you couldn't get her to sit for a game. maybe she liked the fact that she really just took him for being a normal guy. she didn't treat him like he was this huge cebrity which he was kind of used to getting, i think. >> she says the relationship developed rapidly. >> they hung out around christmastime for the first time. and then i remember in january, i dropped her off at his house. and after that, it was just kind of like they had really started to like each other. and they were dating. it wasn't just, you know, hang out every now and then. they were dating. >> there's dating and having fun. and there's dating, i'm serious and i'm falling in love? >> uh-huh. >> which was this? >> i mean, she fell in love with him, if that's what you're asking. she was crazy about him. >> remember, jennie was 19 at the time. 16 years younger than mcnair. >> the age difference didn't make a difference to her? >> no, we joked about it. nothing to worry her. >> of course, there was this uncomfortable fact? >> at what point did you realize that steve mcnair was married? >> she knew right away. she was under the impression they were going through a divorce. >> neighbors told us that they saw mcnair so often at emily and jennie's apartment, they thought he would move in. that was in february two months after the couple met. >> he made no effort to hide the relationship? >> 0, no. >> if i ran into them at a restaurant, i would think that's boyfriend and girlfriend? >> yeah. we were in clubs and people saw they were dating. we had been out before without him, and someone said, you're steve mcnair's girlfriend, aren't you? so it wasn't -- it wasn't a big secret. >> which leads to about obvious question. if everybody seemed to know, did mcnair's wife know? mechell mcnair has not spoken publicly since the murder. she has reportedly told friends she didn't know about kazemi, which is not the same as knowing her husband was seeing her women. >> nashville is a very small town. i can't believe that mechelle mcnair didn't know what steve was up to. >> is there an unspoken acceptance among the families of athletes? she went on to tell me she's zating a guy and she have been dating six months. and she said she was dating steve mcnair. >> why would jennie kazemi sit down in the middle of the day and share her personal story with a perfect stranger? yeah. she asked me for my advice. i couldn't really give her any because i've never been in that situation, but she kind of -- we ended the conversation as her saying i really don't know what to do. >> was she upset? >> yeah, she was upset. >> just hours later in the early morning hours of july 2nd, a nashville police officer pulled over the black escalade, jennie's dream car. >> 84 miles an hour. >> she was doing 54 in a 30-mile-an-hour zone. steve mcnair was in the passenger seat, apparently drunk. remarkably, it was the same officer who arrested mcnair for dui in 2007. the dashboard cam of the patrol car shows jennie steps out in a short dress and platform heels. the officer puts her through a sobriety test. she tells him she isn't drunk but she is high. moments later, mcnair and another man exit the passenger side of the vehicle. then they get in separate cabs and leave. in the patrol car, under arrest for dui. jennie seems surprised. >> can i call him? >> he just left here. i told him you wanted to talk to him. he was more than welcome to come back and tox to you. >> when you heard later when he left the scene where she was arrested? >> i was mad. if you see the footage, she's in the back seat, broken-hearted and nfused. she's never been arrested before. probably scared out of her life and he left her there. >> but jennie said she didn't seem upset after mcnair bailed her out of jail. >> she called me and said, you'll never believe what happened, i said, oh, no. she said, i got a dui. immediately i told her, you shouldn't drink and drive. you drive like a maniac. i went off on her. she said, yeah, yeah, but i was okay. >> and she was upset? >> she didn't appear. if she was upis he, she hid it. at 5:00 p.m. that same day, jennie met this man in the parkin lot of a daveus &ste br' &erouter' b where sheworked. adrian gillingham was on patrol. a car dealer, he apparently talked to jennie about buying her old kia. police didn't buy the car but did sell jennie a handgun. a cheap .9 millimeter like this for 100. he's pleaded not guilty. >> i can't imagine her buying a gun. i can't imagine her knowing how to shoot a gun. >> on friday, july 3rd, police say jennie remarked to an associate, "my life is a ball of and i should just end it." they say jennie clocked out of work until 7:00 p.m. and went home. she was on her computer until about 11:00 p.m. she called emily's cell some time thatight but emily missed the call. >> she could have been calling me to tell me a stupid story about work or she could have been calling me to ask for help. because maybe she was in a situation where she knew she couldn't control herself anymore. i'll never know. >> jennie's sister said she did speak to jennie that night. and while she seemed concerned about money she did not seem angry or upset. and yet, police say sometime after 11:00 jennie went to mcnair's apartment downtown. mcnair himself arrived between 1:30 and 2:00 a.m. the man who drove him there later told police he saw the black escalade parked outside. 11 hours later wayne neally let himself inside. at first, he told police, he didn't see anything unusual. >> there's two people. >> two people? and they both appear to be deceased? >> i think so, sir. >> police found mcnair sprawled on the sofa shot twice in the chest and once in the head. >> kazemi shot once in the head. and under kazemi's body, the gun she bought 48 hours earlier. >> mcnair has been drinking. his blood alcohol was twice the legal level for dui. >> kazemi had marijuana in her system. >> police announced the conclusion. >> that steve mcnair was murdered by sahel kazemi. in turn, sahel kazeem hi killed herself with a single gunot wound to her head. while we will never know what drove miss kazemi that drove to her, the totally points to a homicide. >> the longtime pastor said the circumstances of his death shouldn't tarnish his memory. >> he was a superior athlete, a mode vart, an entrepreneur. a great father. two days later, air mcnai was laid to rest in his home soil, mt. olive, mississippi. ♪ it will never be good-bye >> but hanging over it all were some very difficult questions. what could have driven jennie kazemi to do it. what if he didn't do it at all? ba da ba ba ba >> a security scare on the potomac today spark alarm and fear of attacks. someone overheard a radio communication this morning talking a threat the coast guard was responding to on the potomac river. that led to cable news reports of shots fire on the river. the drill itself looked ominous. look here. four boats, guns drawn, circling between the memorial and 14th street bridges. reagan national airport grounded flights for 20 minutes while this was going on. the local and state authorities are not notified when the drills take place typically but the coast guard vice admiral is looking into why the drill happened today. >>> for americans in the world, terrorist attacks instantly bring to mind al qaeda behind and osama bin laden's not behind. eight years later, the manhunt is still on and the question remains where is bin laden? here's an inside look. [gunfire] >> reporter: eight years after 9/11, u.s. intelligence officials believe that osama bin laden and al qaeda number two al-zawahri are in the pakistani tribal area thanks to the safe haven provided by their taliban hosts. the security forces have been hitting the base the last few weeks and this after a cia strike killed their leader last month. many pakistanis believe the deadly attack here on islamabad's marriott hotel last september 20th to be their 9/11. the pakistani government blames the truck bombing on a local al qaeda linked to terror group. can al qaeda still strike the u.s. from the base here? >> al qaeda is in much smaller numbers now. these people used to be in hundreds if not thousands in the valleys when we strike them, maybe in 2002 and '3 and '4. >> reporter: some think they're on the run in pakistan. >> these are normal safe havens, even if they're havens. they're not safe anymore for them. >> reporter: a pakistani-based journalist, the last to interview osama bin laden 9 weeks before 9/11, said he has seen evidence al qaeda is recruiting and training terrorists in the pakistani tribal areas and along the border in afghanistan. >> clearly shows that al qaeda is still, or even the groups there. still, they have the training facilities and still they can really recruit and still they can train people. >> reporter: but al qaeda is logistically dependent on the taliban local hosts. the taliban have threatened and never carried out a terror attack in the west with the increase in u.s. drone accuracies and the taliban disarray, they think now is the time to strike the taliban hard, cutting off that logistical support for al qaeda. >> we should keep the pressure intensified so that, you know, they're really either eliminated or captured. >> report that efforts are underway to find out why they are declining. >> reporter: montgomery county's high school graduation rate dipped below 90% for the first time in 2008 but now it has happened get them. if they are not leaving with them, why not. >> reporter: school officials blame some of the decline on per record keeping losing track of students who move to other schools in this country charges today against the lawyer boyfriend of anna nicole smith. howard k. stern now facing new charges for allegedly obtaining prescription drugs by using a false name of . he was already been charged with two doctors. he pleaded not guilty back in may. >>> john travolta is the key witness in the trial of two people accused of trying to extort millions from the actor after the death of his son. today he testified about how he tried to save the life of the 16-year-old boy following a seizure. >> reporter: john travolta and wife kelly preston walked into the courthouse without a word through a side door. john travolta was the first witness on the stand. in a soft voice he began describing the day his son jett died. the first time he has talked with it publicly. the 16-year-old boy had a seizure and collapsed in the bathroom of the family vacation villa in the bahamas january 2nd. he was pronounced dead at a hospital a short time later. john travolta told the jury his son was autistic and had seizures every five to ten days. he said he performs mouth to mouth and his son's caretaker pumps his chest. he was on the stands for less than 5 minutes when his testimony was put on hold because of defense objections. objections that took the rest of the morning to resolve. an ambulance driver and a local politician are on trial for extortion. prosecutors say the two threatened to go public with a medical document showing john travolta wanted to deny care for his son unless john travolta paid them $25 million. both say they are innocent. john travolta was back on the stand in the afternoon but only talked about the day his son died. he will have to return at some point to testify about the alleged extortion. but the judge didn't say when. cbs news, bahamas. >> john [ laughter ] >> oh, he made a lot of big catches. he made a lot of big catches. one that come to mind, actually, it was our last game, our junior year. we were competing for a playoff spot. you know, it come down to the last drive of the game and i throw the first two balls to the other receiver because he gets double covered all the time. my first year playing quarterback. so i come back to the sidelines, and he's in the middle then, lebron is on the opposite side and sheian is like you only go to two plays, man, you have to go to your play maker, and this and that. and i don't think we're about to make the playoff, this and that. and then lebron don't say much. he looks at me, at least three out of four. three out of four, you know what i'm saying? [ applause ] >> did you size up the situation and say, enough with the football now, we're going to concentrate on basketball? >> you know, i was happy, definitely very happy when he chose not to play any more football. >> because he got injured playing football, then, you know -- >> then i'm not sitting up here with you. >> and you don't barbershop if your house, you have to drive all the way to the barber. a nightmare. what do you think is the most important thing that your coach taught you in high school? >> he was basecally -- the number one thing is don't let the game use you, use the game. when you're 12 or 13, you don't understand what that mean. but as a man, i have my own family i understand what that means. we use the game to create friendship, create loyalty. you know, create everything that i'm doing today. so know it's some great advice. >>s of this a cool thing. when i was at your house, you had your buddies from high school were there and you're still tight with the guys and you formed a unit. i think your coach had a lot to do with that. what did you buy him as a result of his efforts? [ laughter ] >> well, right beside the -- he has own scol now. >> is that right? >> yeah. still being built. >> still being built. >> for economics, you know? the economy is real down. i couldn't finish the building. >> well -- >> you were the president of your high school class. >> yes. >> you guys went to a largely white high school. and you guys -- none of you are largely white. [ laughter ] >> and in the documentary you were talking about -- how many votes did you get? there was something -- >> well, we -- i went to do my speech and things like that. it went well. they're sitting in the front, we're sitting in the front row making it as hard as possible. then come seventh period they had a student council to me, like, willie, you won, but it's a problem with the score. we have 96 students and five not here today and we have 102 votes. you know what i'm saying? [ laughter ] and so i was like, when do i take my throne? i won. it shouldment matter. i don't know what that's about. >> did you have anything to to with that landslide victory? >> i had absolutely everything to do with it. [ cheers and applause ] >> stuffing the box. >> these guys, was it easy to contain their enthusiasm when they were in high school and lebron had already become a star? not by any like -- really not by your own choice, but people started looking at you and saying, hey, this guy could be one of the greats of all time? >> no, not at all. in fact, the last game -- state championship, my first year as a head coach, i'm in bed the night before the state championships sick with the flu. all i hear is all this commotion in the hallway, everything is going on. you know, i come out the door and i'm in the chills, and, you know, for some reason, the athletic director put t cheerleaders on the same floor with the team. so, you know, i'm -- >> happy coincidence. >> i'm trying to put all this stuff up. >> did the student body president make that decision? [ laughter ] >> so, you know, i kind of clear out the hallway and got people in the right rooms, but after i went to bed i don't know what happened. >> we photographed you guys. are you at the prom here? >> the class prom, yeah. >> and then this was what, homecoming? [ laughter ] i didn't know -- you guys are missing a guy in that one. and just for good measure what the hell, we got this one. [ laughter ] this is a fascinating book and documentary too. lebron james, dru joyce and willie mcgee, everybody. we'll be right back with chef chris bianco. need a lift? hey buddy, i appreciate the ride, you know. no problem. ♪ mind if i take a shortcut? yeah, sure. ♪ i knew the subaru legacy was the smart choice... what i didn't expect... was the fun. the all-new subaru legacy. feel the love. ♪ our next guest is the owner of pizzeria bianco and pane bianco in phoenix, arizona. he is a james beard award winner, which is big. that's the guy who invented the beard. he's here tonight at the l.a. feast of san gennaro. please welcome chris bianco. hi, chris. great to have you. i didn't wash my hands, is that a problem? >> that's okay. >> very good. so we're going to make sandwiches. we have dough to start with. >> let me tell what we've got. it's similar to the pizza dough, we'll make a foccachia to do. >> you make the bread for each sandwich? >> like krispy kreme, we hammer them out. it was a good idea at the time. >> it was good for your customers. >> i'm a trained professional, you know what to do. flip it over. let it find its place. then we stick like three fingers -- >> any three? >> any three. press into it a little bit. and just trap the olive oil we'll put on it. creates the nks and crannies like the english muffins. looks very good. >> thank you. >> and then -- then a little extra virgin olive oil. >> and you get -- you get your own olive oil made, right? >> i have some oil in phoenix. >> what you need to do at home is get some friends -- >> get a guy, get a guy. >> get a guy, who puts this -- >> that's it. beautiful. >> evenly. >> yeah. a little bit of sea salt. oh, that's perfect. >> thank you. >> a little bit of rosemary. cool. like that much. >> okay. >> a little bit of flavor. >> a little bit. if you don't like it, you can omit any of this stuff. >> if you don't like it you should be killed. >> exactly. cool, man. >> we'll put them in the overen. then we have the premade over there. >> yeah, for television we made them. >> i'm sorry if i'm overstepping my bounds but i like to help. so i've got these. actually, that will cook for five minutes or so? >> five minutes. >> okay. >> now what we can do -- they're still hot, so we can cut it. >> split it down the center there. what can people do? i know you have the beautiful renato oven which is a great wood burning oven. if you don't have one of these, break up a chair and throw it in the garbage can and light a fire? >> no, just a pizza oven, 500 degrees, 30 minutes, just load it up in your oven. >> what's the key to building a great sandwich? >> a great question. >> thank you. >> kind of like building a house. we want a great foundation. and then all the ingredients, got to have a roll. we'll start right now with the base. this is the smoked ricotta. you can use regular ricotta too. but because -- >> you can smoke that simply by sticking it in the fire? >> yeah. kind of -- kind of trap the oxygen, gets super smokey. add a little bit of olive oil. a few peppers and just put it in for 15 minutes. >> let's see what happens here. put some ricotta cheese on it. spread that around nice. then what will be next? the peppers? >> the peppers. some peppers and heirloom tomatoes on there. >> stick some of those on there. and then, you know -- >> how many people will make sandwiches at home? you can make this at home. >> you get some marinated peppers and tomatoes and then you throw them on the sandwich and really you can make someone fall in love with you instantly. >> at least until the sandwich is gone. >> then you start over again. >> start over. >> then put a little -- what is this? >> this is some wild arugula. >> nice. >> you can regular arugula. it's spiky. very peppery and delicious. a little more salt. >> a little bit of salt. >> more olive oil. and then put a little squeeze of lemon. >> okay. >> okay. >> oh, my god, that looks good. >> cool. >> there's it, man. >> put the top on? can you cut the crust off for me? >> yeah. you can cut the crust off. [ laughter ] that's a finger sandwich. >> let's taste it. we have ernie barry on the accordion here. we're at the feast of san gennaro in case you're wondering what's going on here. let me have a bite of that. you can only describe how good this is with profanity so i won't. chris bianco. dean. be right back with ester ...and i smoked for 29 years. the one thing about smoking - is it dominates your life, and it dominated mine. and the sad thing about it is that you can always use an excuse if cigarettes don't kill me, oh well - something else will. but, you can't use that as an excuse. i honestly loved smoking, and i honestly didn't think i would ever quit. it was very interesting that you could smoke on the first week. chantix gave me that extra help that i needed to gethrough a tough time. (announcer) chantix is a non-nicotine pill. in studies, 44% of chantix users were quit during weeks 9 to 12 of treatment, compared to 18% on sugar pill. it is proven to reduce the urge to smoke. i did have an unopen pack of cigarettes in my purse and then i think i opened my purse and realized it was still there. and i said, "what the heck, i don't need these..." ...i said, you know, "bye, i don't need you anymore, u're not my crutch, i don't need a crutch." [ indiscernible ] >> my family. >> did you kill them? >> yes, i did. >> why? >> i want the jury to go of me death to bury at the same time. >> he claimed that he will enter a not-guilty plea because of the mental state at the time of the killing, accused of stabbing and cutting the throats of his wife and children and ploying -- flying to haiti. >>> a lawyer of jaycee lee dugard has mixed emotions about the couple who held her captive but will locally testify against them during the trial. dugard was 11 years old when she was kidnapped off of a northern california street. phillip garrido fathered two children with her. the lawyer said that dugard is starting to realize terrible things were done to her. yesterday, a man who believes he is dugard's biological father came forward. the lawyers are trying to arrange a paternity test and a meeting with her. >>> heartbreak for an ohio couple. a mother is carrying a baby she found out is not hers. a fertility clinic made a terrible mistake with an embryo. she and her husband had to make tough choices. karina sohn is live in what they decided to do. what a terrible situation. >> reporter: an unbelievable story, laura. unbelievably, the fertility clinic has not contacted either of the couples involvedfo help provide an -- to help provide an explanation on the mix-up and that happened in february. the couple's are sean and carolyn savage here in ohio, pregnant with the child. the other couple involved lives in michigan and they're paul and shannon morrel. the boy's genetic parents. they have been in contact, mostly through e-mail and met face-to-face a couple of times. right now, it's giving baby updates to one another. the savage family saidol it's been months since reality first set in, they will never forget the moment when they found out that carolyn was pregnant with another couple's baby. take a listen. >> i burst into tire error errors. i was crying. i don't think anger, i could not believe what he was ying and i kept thinking there is a baby inside of me. it's not mine. what are we going to do and -- then you're asking yourself, i was asking myself that question what, are we going do and i already knew what we had to do. >> reporter: of course, what she was referring to was keeping the baby to term and reuniting it with its biological genetic parents after he was born and he is expected in just a few days from now. as far as what happens in the future, the couple said they will have to feel it out and see what is comfortable for them also, carolyn savage, the woman you saw in the interview there, she said that she is now hired the help of a surrogate to try and use her real frozen embryos to try and get another child of her very own. back to you. >> boy, oh, boy, what a twisted story. seems the two families have a cordial relationship and what a wonderful thing the savage family is doing here. we see they have a few children of their own. the genetic parents who the baby, of that baby being carried by the savage family, do they have other children of their own, you know? >> reporter: melanie kicks things off with cardio, whether it's running or bicycling, long enough to get her heart rate up and incorporates a lot of weight lifting to strengthen muscles and to use lean, does lighter weights and adds more reps and adding dumbbells to strengthen glutes and abs and cavs and the all-important abexercise. she likes an exercise ball that works her core muscles and ab. in addition to a strict workout main routine, she maintains the weight with a healthy and balanced diet and oates but in moderation. she starts with a breakfast bar and oatmeal and eats fish or veggies for dinner. what about dessert? [ laughter ] >> melanie, yeah. okay. >>> listen, we have to talk about the weekend forecast. it's still a challenge. >> okay. >> not as though this is coming into clearvow here for us. this is a lot going on this weekend. sunshine out there and temperatures in the 80s for everybody and at least one location, fredericksburg up to 90 degrees and here we are. the second full day of fall and feels like summertime. that is going to change them. 73 by 11:00 and clouds. looks like we will stay dry this evening. mostly cloudy tomorrow morning at 7:00 a.m., 68 degrees and mostly cloudy at noon, too and by tomorrow afternoon, there is at least a chance for a spotty shower. it does look like it's not going to be a lot of rain. just a few of us might have showers late, late tomorrow afternoon and 83 in the city; 85, dulles and fredericksburg cooled off. 86 degrees. look at all the rain to the west of us. st. louis is getting plenty of it and a lot of moisture in the gulf of mexico we have to track the rain. this is part of the same system that is going to be bringing us rain rot now, saturday and sunday, part of each day is going to be wet. it looks like. we're figuring out which part of the day is going to get wet and now in terms of where we are now, partly cloudy with more clouds streaming in and we're dry, though, with the front pushing through and we have stayed dry today. max hd future cast at 7 a.m. tell me how much in the way of cloud cover we have and we're mostly cloudy, bright spots north of the sea around southern p.a., northern sections of maryland and sunshine tomorrow afternoon and right now, holding the rain off. we still have to think a spotty shower tomorrow afternoon and into tomorrow evening and looki to the west-southwest. this is where the challenge is into tomorrow night and saturday. all of that moisture out west has to go somewhere and one think this we had seen is that it's saturday afternoon, looks like when this main batch of rain is going to come on through and i still think we'll have timing issues. right now, looks like the better part of saturday will remain dry. there is a lot of wet weather back out to the west. saturday night into sunday morning. we can have some heavy rain and this thunderstorms moving through and right now, looks like the system could get out of here quickly. so, the better part of sunday looks dry and sunshine, too. mild overnight tonight, looks cloudy. temperatures in the upper 60s for the city and temperatures to the south and the northwestern suburbs, the temperatures in the lower 60s and this is what we're calling for the next five days. cooler tomorrow, high of 74 and mostly cloudy, limited sunshine. showers side afternoon and showers sunday morn -- saturday afternoon and sunday morning and dry out on monday. next tuesday-wednesday looks nice and cool. >> all right, thank you, gary. >> thank you. >>> we are following breaking news out of hollywood. we have just leaed that police arrested actor randy quaid and his wife. tmzs harvey levin joins us live with the latest on this case. what happened, harvey? >> reporter: well, we broke the story in the website 15 minutes ago. it happened literally less than a half hour ago. randy quaid and his wife were in texas. the reason they were arrested is because sheriff's in santa barbara say they burglarized and defrauded the san ysidro ranch, a fancy place in santa barbara where they stayed iraqed up a bill of around -- stayed, racked up a bill where they stayed and didn't pay. they have done this elsewhere. they feel they went in with the intent to steal, which is burglary. they found them in texas. she struggled like crazy. assaulted the police, kicked, screamed, yelled and ultimately, they subdued them 20 minutes ago. y that on their way to jail and california is going to try tofra tra duty them. >> that is a big deal. we know you're going to stay on top of that one. >>> the other big story peel are talking about. the mckenzie phillips shocker where she accused her father of molesting her and getting her hooked on drugs. what is the latest fallout there? than the medical community first estimated. a new study out today finds more than 35 million people around the world have the fatal brain wasting disease. that's about the size of the population of is lucy ho can talk about today as -- who can talk about today as easily as the day she was married and then lynn lion, a former psychiatrist diagnosed with early onset alzheimer's five years ago when she was 51. >> it is something that woipt change -- won't change and something you have to deal with. >> i think it is a disease that nobody wants to talk about. and that people are deathly afraid of it. it is almost like the scarlet letter. >> reporter: he believes the same fear is behind the underreporting of the disease. the zig ma in the united states has -- the stigma in the united states is becoming less and less over time but we still see in countries around the world a tremendous stigma of not wanting to tell other people, not wanting to get the clear diagnosis. >> reporter: the report says that by the year 2050, a staggering 115 million people will have alzheimer's disease. the rising numbers are due to the world's aging population, but also, increasing risk factors. >> high blood pressure. diabetes. and obesity. and those four factors do increase your risk for getting brain disease later in life. >> reporter: there are many alzheimer's medications but they alleviate the symptoms and will is no cure and alzheimer's researchers still don't know what causes it. a cure doesn't look promising, there is hope a vaccine can be developed to prevent the disease. in maryfield, needed or the war will be lost. that could be a tough sell. the president has already moved in 21,000 soldiers this year, and 68,000 are now on the ground. but general stanley mccrystal is calling for more soldiers to get the upper hand on al qaeda as well as taliban insurgents. >> the situation is deteriorated on the ground. you have the taliban that has regained footholds in parts of the country in the south and in the east. they have gotten better at what they do. >> reporter: mccrystal is 1 also calling for a change in strategy that includes building a relationship with the afghan people, so they don't view the u.s. as the enemy. mccrystal's report was supposed to be confidential. but parts of it were leaked to the press and that is creating a political headache for the president. a growing number of democrats want to put the brakes on our involvement in afghanistan while republicans are demanding more forces to fight the war now entering its ninth year. >> so the challenge for president obama, to make sure that he is articulating what it is that our national interests involve here, and how we're going to achieve it. and how we can get out. >> reporter: president obama says
