there will be smoke in the air here so if you're watching us from babylon right now or any of the areas close to this, you might want to shut your windows at this point because there are pretty good plumes of smoke now. from that picture is newscopter 7 is looking back toward the city in this direction, i would think that that smoke is actually blowing more inland shifting more out of the southeast as we go through the afternoon hours. in terms of the winds, we are not seeing the winds that we had yesterday. i mean, really we are seeing some winds that are closer to about 10 miles an hour. we have winds seven to 13 miles an hour in terms of the gusts but you can clearly see on some of the directions now they are coming out of the southeast on our weather computer. so that sea breeze is going to continue to take that smoke inland. the humidities are so low, they are below 20%, that's the problem. the fire weather warning does not include long island. it's only for fairfield county and connecticut and much of new england but it doesn't take much, light wind, low humidity, the temperatures
