it just sat there and ground out the bahamas. grand bahama, abaco island, hit the hardest. at least 43 people have died and that number most likely will change. morgan chesky has the latest from that nassau for us. >> reporter: we're really starting to see the first glimmer of real hope since this hurricane moved in. and that is because relief agencies and rescue efforts have gotten a foot hold in the hard hit areas. the federal agency u.s. aid setting up a camp there and that is where crews will use as a base to go to the devastated neighborhoods where they will be searching door to door through the rubble to make sure no one is left behind in those hard hit areas. coast guard choppers, we can hear them flying nonstop. they will be rescuing the critically injured, people still trapped in hard to reach islands and bringing them here where they can receive medical care from doctors in nearby hospitals across nassau. and in the meantime, hundreds if not thousands are trying to leave the islands at abaco and grand bahama because there is simply nothing left behind for them. 11
