"today in the bay"'s thom jensen is live at the bay bridge toll plaza in oakland.ws for drivers. >> reporter: no, i can imagine, especially people who have to commute over the bridges every day. right now it's $7, the bridge toll. bay area state lawmakers, senator scott wiener and josh becker proposing a $1.50 increase, which means bridge tolls will be going up to $8.50. more than 220,000 cars go through just the bay bridge toll plazas on average daily. so it would raise $330,000 each day. they'll introduce the bill this morning in sacramento. wiener says it could bring in near a billion dollars for the next five years, cutting the projected deficit in half. the toll increases would apply to the bay bridge, the san mateo, the richmond bridge and dumbarton, carquinez, and antioch bridges as well. all of them would have the $8.50 toll. the golden gate bridge is already $8.40, so that toll would not increase. all of the rest of them would. you're watching "today in the bay." >> thanks a lot, thom. >>> we're still on some driver news, commute news this morning. we're l

the bay area is heating up. meteorologist kari hall is tracking where triple digits will hit this weekend. this is "today in the bay." >>> and good morning to you on this friday. a hot one, indeed. >> i'm marcus washington. >> i'm laura garcia. >> as we mentioned, triple digits are on the way. we've got team coverage tracking that heat. let's start with a look at the forecast. meteorologist kari hall has been really tracking all week what we can expect. >> yeah, we've been talking about it a lot and we are going to see temperatures starting to ramp up today. it's at least nice and cool now, as you get ready to head out the door. temperatures in the low 50s in san francisco, it's 61 in dublin and 57 in fremont. and then as we go into today, we're already seeing clear skies in san jose, a different pictures compared to this time yesterday morning. we're at 58 degrees, but we are going to see temperatures warming up quickly as we go toward late morning into the afternoon. we'll be in the upper 70s at noon and heade

bay area, for that matter. you can see the temperature sign right now, 61 degrees. doesn't sound like much, but it is 6:00 in the morning. so you get a sense we're going to be approaching a lot hotter temps later in the day, the high 90s today in livermore, 100 degrees tomorrow. not quite as hot as fairfield, 103, but at that point who cares? the difference between 100 and 103, it's just going to be really hot. you compare this to earlier in the week, that's a 20 to 30 degree difference. this means there's an increased risk of wildfire. this is video of a brush fire overnight in san jose on fuller avenue, not far from 280 and 87. the fire department was able to put it out before it spread to any homes. not clear what caused this fire, but the battalion chief has this warning and reminder as we head into the fourth of july holiday. >> fireworks are illegal in the city of san jose, people shouldn't be lighting them off. there is a code to report fireworks on the city website and that's available for people to use

our top story is in the east bay. oakland police are investigating a robbery at a popular local doughnut shop. as police search for the suspect, the surveillance video of the frightening moments as the robbery took place. nbc bay area pete joins us live. >> reporter: good morning to you. it took place behind me at the colonial doughnut shop on lakeshore avenue not too far from merrick. there's a lot of concern about this robbery taking place. now, i did speak to that manager. in the past hour, she shared with us some surveillance video of what took place and the different angles of the scary moment of her employees. oakland pd said it took place on friday around 1:00 a.m. you can see the suspects hurtling the counter and then directing the employee to open the cashier. it looked like the employee complied. it doesn't appear the employee was hurt but the suspect did take the money and left the scene. it is a scary incident on lakeshore avenue in oakland. we spoke to customers. >> it is extremely heart-breaking. i know

north bay 53.hs tomorrow really have a hard time warming up because of that cloud cover and the foggy braets. 58 half moon bay. 56 oakland. inland valleys, a decent day, 74 livermore. 72 concord. it's a hard turn after last weekend when we had wall to wall sunshine and so many 70s and 80s. nonetheless, that's the weather tomorrow. into sunday, that system we showed you is going to be moving off to the south. it's going to bring in thunderstorm chances. the best bet is certainly going to be over the sierra. as we head through sunday morning, notice how we could get a little bit moving in here from the east toward the west for a spotty shower, isolated thunderstorm. we'll have the radar up and track it. again, over the sierra, that's where we could see .5 to 1 inches of rainfall. if you're headed that way or the mendocino mountains, watch out for thunderstorms this weekend. the seven-day forecast, you can see san francisco, 30% chance of those spotty thunderstorms on sunday. into next week, we keep t

north bay, 79 in ukiah. napa 75. so a little patchy fog as we roll through tomorrow morning, but what i wanted to show you is by tomorrow evening, that fog is going to start to gath area little more in the pacific and look at this. by thursday morning, it looks like a fog storm here. from the north bay to the south bay, everybody getting back in on the cloud cover and also some of that spotty drizzle by thursday morning. on the wind forecast, i also wanted to show you the afternoons. we're looking at 15 to 25-mile-per-hour variable gusts the next two afternoons. so that's the other thing we're looking at. i don't expect any damage from this, but again, it is going to be breezy as we head through the afternoon hours. in san francisco, we hold on to 60s through the weekend. so looks like a classic san francisco pride event. expect the fog if you're headed there for the parade starting at 10:30 a.m. on sunday with temperatures here in the 60s. for the inland valleys we're at 79 tomorrow as summer officially arrives. che

a little bit of fog in the north bay. some patchy fog over the east bay as well. then through the afternoon, we get sunshine from santa rosa down to san jose. if you're headed to the beaches, that fog will stay put. the south bay, 57. the mid 50s continue. tomorrow, going into the physical and the 80 across the inland valleys. a really nice day. we can be a lot hotter. so 81 in concord, 80 in san jose. at the coastline, 69 in san francisco, 62 in half moon bay. you'll want to be out there enjoying the sunshine. just watch it per your allergies, we have grass and nettles in the moderate. in the afternoon, it looks like your allergies would be bugging you the most then. an unusual late season system dropping down once again. cooler temperatures and the wind. in san francisco, we'll hold on. a dramatic drop from 84 saturday to 73 sunday. some occasional gusts. then as we hit the first day of summer, we'll be down to 79. so some are getting here next week. thankfully, no 100s. we're really in this nice comfy stride the next few days. >> we're halfway through the year.

the coolest spots will be in the north bay. the southwesterly winds are positioned to push the marine air into the valleys of the north bay while inland and the east bay will see more of a mix of upper 70s and low 80s with some of the warmest spots even reaching into the mid-80s. the warming trend will be subtle throughout the bay bu will exist. friday looks like when temperatures will peak and into saturday as well with a minor drop in temperatures near the water for the second half o the weekend on father's day and the juneteenth holiday on monday. the more noticeable dro in temperatures is further inland. the north bay does not warm up as much, so your drop will be modest, but san jose, about a 10 degree drop from saturday to sunday and a simila drop for inland parts of the east bay. for consistency, head to the coast with temperatures hovering near 60 degrees. vern? >>> straight ahead in sports, the nhl has a champion. we have already showed new what the a's did. and what we always say to the chp. >>> bittersweet night for
