i think there will be impacts on the morning commute for the valleys in the north bay and east bay to begin the day tuesday. later in the day tuesday we'll be tracking the arrival of our next rainmaker, which is going to be fairly brief, shouldn't have too much impact. i think the bulk of it arrives after the tuesday rush hour, but it's going to be another quarter inch to half inch of rainfall. the dry break at best we'll see a mix of clouds and sun, but at least a couple of dry days before the wet weather settles in friday through the weekend. there is going to be plenty of fog to begin the day tuesday, even a couple sprinkles possible in the north bay. the bulk of shower chances don't really arrive for the north bay until early afternoon. we'll see rain chances move in across the rest of the bay area late afternoon, especially into the evening hours. this band of heavier rain is likely to make it across the bay area just after the peak of the tuesday rush, but all it has to do is speed up by maybe 90 minutes and have significant impact on the tuesday afternoon and evening rush hour.

so average for the north bay. and mid 60s down here in the south bay.what we know so far as far as the rain timeline. 3:00 in the morning rolls around, seeing that light activity for the north bay. mostly cloudy skies as we watch for heavier rainfall to develop in the afternoon. so that wednesday commute would be a little slick, but really it's the overnight hours that we'll watch in the north bay and the santa cruz mountains with those gusty winds and the possibility for some minor flooding. as we go into thursday and friday, some of those showers linger. but, again, the heaviest part will be early on, on wednesday and overnight into thursday morning. those wind speeds right now could warrant a wind advisory from the national weather service as we look at the gusts out of the south around 20 to 30 miles per hour. so just prepare for that, and while we have this beautiful sunshine this weekend and we'll take it into our next rain chance that will come about as we fast forward into next weekend. scattered showers from the system on saturday, but we'll wa

also in the santa cruz mountains, the east bay and the north bay going to be cold all around us. start your day. all right, lawrence, now to another big story we're following a second avalanche has been reported. >> in the olympic valley area in the past 2 days, this one was today was on the alpine side of the mountain. the resort says they were conducting avalanche hazard mitigation and shut down the summit lift and surrounding area when the avalanche was reported. fortunately, in this case nobody was hurt. the area eventually reopen today. meanwhile, over palisades skiers and snowboarders were back out on the slopes today following yesterday's deadly avalanche. when disaster struck yesterday. dozens of people you see him here jumping into action, digging people out of the snow talking 10, 12 feet of snow. some people were under the avalanche was along the famous kt. 22 run. half hour after the slopes open to the public, the avalanche just unloaded ski patrol and regular skiers immediately started helping out looking for people. they saved 3 people who were injured. but again, o
