most of the rain that we're seeing right now is in the north bay, across the bay. it's a lot of marin county into southern napa county, moving toward richmond and off and on for san francisco, and then looking at what we're expecting for today, the shading of this light green is where we may have the risk of thunderstorms continuing for today. so the storm prediction center puts out these outlooks for areas to watch for across the country, and they've highlighted northern california for that potential of some thunder and lightning today. looking at gilroy, we're starting out with a mix of sun and clouds, temperatures right at about 50 degrees, but then as we go throughout today it's going to head for the low 60s, and then the rain chances increase. in those rain showers that we see, there may be some rumbles of thunder, brief, heavy downpours, and possibly some small hail. as it moves through between 2:00 and 4:00, it's picking up for parts of the east bay down to the peninsula, and then it's still continuing off and on through tonight and possibly even early tomor

the east bay, almost 30,000 and the south bay has about 72,000 or so. and this is a look at the current pg e power outage map will start over in the east bay. you can see there's again close to 30,000 with no power, those yellow areas represent anywhere from 50 to 500 customers. and then orange represents anywhere from 500 to 5,000 customers. many in the walnut creek and pleasant hill being affected and over in the north bay. there's about 73,000 customers without power right now. and you can see those heavy pockets of orange and yellow. again spread out from santa rosa all the way down to the marine area. again, some of not had power since about midnight on sunday morning and the san francisco area. as we go down, you can see there's only about 5,000 or so without power there. but that number continues to grow. as we go down the peninsula to most 74,000 without power. and again, you can see that heavy pocket of red just below daly city and next to south san francisco represents again 5,000 customers over in the south bay, another large area without pow

"today in the bay"'s bob redell is live for us in the east bay. what kind of impact are we talking about here? >> reporter: not clear yet. good morning to you, marcus. one of the coalitions organizing the strikes says drivers will not provide rides from airports between 11:00 a.m. this morning until 1:00 p.m. this afternoon, however none of those cities they mentioned are here in the bay area. all are on the east coast, in the midwest or texas. the coalition tells us it is possible some bay area drivers could go on strike. the justice for app workers coalition, which represents about 130,000 drivers for uber, lyft and doordash, says they're asking today by striking for more pay from the respective companies. according to gridwise, which analyzes gig mobility data, uber drivers monthly average gross earnings fell around 17% in 2023, while lyft drivers saw an increase of 2.5%. in a statement, uber said in part, quote, these types of events have rarely had any impact on trips, prices or driver availability, and we expect the same today. that's becaus

the most of those are in the south bay. let's get to jessica who is tracking the latest on this first alert weather day. >>> gianna, when it comes to the storms, power outages and downed trees but the gusty conditions we had yesterday and localized flooding, those are all concerning for us. as we look at what is happening in the bay area we are under a flood watch throughout this afternoon, lasting into the evening hours a night and early morning tomorrow. i want to start with first alert doppler. i want to show you what is going on. in the north bay, some of the lighter showers a moderate pockets of rain are falling all throughout the sonoma in the napa hills. if you commute closer to novato into areas like san rafael, keep in mind we are dealing with active weather. it is more dry along the peninsula and off into the east bay but we track the storms as they moved to the east, throughout the afternoon today. until 11:00, they stay to the north bay and here we go into the afternoon close to 3:00 at 4:00 it starts to sweep i

bay. this morning we are gearing up for a series of thunderstorm activity that we will see widespread throughout the bay area into the afternoon hours. we are waking up in the 50s near san jose, los gatos. red wood city, a similar trend. first alert doppler is relatively light but it will look different. i will show you on futurecast in just a bit. we are under a wind advisory and i will show you why in a second. we are starting to see light coastal drizzle closer to santa rosa and north bay coastline near bodega bay. into the next hours, right now it is only 5:00, but around 9:00 we start to see thunderstorm activity. many of us have today off. if you are thinking of doing early activities, this is what you will be battling with. into the afternoon, watch our wind speeds widespread throughout the bay area. we can see gusts up to around 30, 40, even 50 miles per hour along our coastline with gusty conditions from the south and throughout our inland areas too. there are big changes heading

the north bay. it's going down to about 69,000, the east bay coming in.30,000 south bay at around 69,000 without power. take a look. this is a live view of pg e power outage map. we'll start over in the east that number is still close to around 30,000. those yellow areas represent 50 to 500 customers. the orange represents about 505,000. so many in the walnut creek and pleasant hill area being affected over the north bay. again, that number has climbed down to about 69,000 customers. still seeing lots of those heavy pockets of orange and yellow mixed in spread out from santa rosa down all the way to marine area. and again, they've been without power since about midnight sunday morning pg and e says san francisco. there's only about 5,000 or so without power there, but that number grows as we go down the peninsula to about 50,000 without power. and you see those heavy pockets. again, there's that big pocket of red just below daly city and next to south san francisco that represents more than 5,000 customers sitting in the dark in one area and another large
