mostly clear over portions of the central bay into the south bay.the north bay, we're dealing with a different type of cloud cover, the fog and the dense fog in areas. chp reporting it along the highways. national weather service saying weather spotter reported black ice and freezing fog in novato and petalulma. it stretches the entire 101 area through santa rosa. again, mostly clear right in here. you get in morgan hill, we're mostly cloudy at this time and it's right in here over areas like santa rosa down along highway 101 all the way into novato where it's very thick and looking at visibility down to about a quarter mile. it's a bit hazardous there this morning. 26 degrees in napa. that's a cold one. 29 in novato. 32 in santa rosa. inner east bay treeing this morning. 31 walnut creek. 34 livermore. areas around the bay, 40 degrees in oakland. 36 in redwood city. 41 in san jose. peninsula, 33 palo alto. 39 belmont. 35 degrees in san mateo. if you do have to be out and about this morning, bundle up. it's a cold one. low to mid-50s in the forecast

across of the north bay. by thursday morning, the brunt of the heavy rain pushes through and that will move through during the heart of your rush hour. thursday 7:00. wet everywhere across the bay area and we could be talking about gusty winds, as well. gusts up to 35 miles per hour. even 45 at the coastline. now, thursday night, the system continues to roll on through. we'll see another shot of heavy rain into friday morning with a few thunderstorms and then we clear out by friday morning. by about 8:00 saturday looks to be a dry day, but then sunday another system comes this way. sunday afternoon into monday morning. and that could lead for a wet monday morning commute. overall, rain totals half an inch and up in the north bay, one to three and the coastal mountains, the most we've seen all year. three to five inches of rain. we'll talk more about that system headed to our weekend. >> we're looking that golden gate bridge, anthony. tougher view. little bit tougher. the for the lights and you'll see some clo

a home invasion in the east bay. a nanny pistol whipped in front of a 6-year-old girl. >> this is one of the safest and most insulated neighborhoods in the bay area. you can still see the footprints on the front door where the home invasion began yesterday afternoon. a nanny and karen yim's 5-year-old daughter were inside. a man with a handgun kicked in the door. >> i'm still trying to wrap my head around everything that's happened. obviously startled and scared. a lot of emotions right now. >> they walked through the house going drawer through drawer, upstairs and down stairs looking for money. at one point the suspect actually pistol whipped the nanny in the head, causing a laceration. >> frightening, she is okay. the nanny was treated at a hospital. the girl wasn't hurt. >> the family says they took off with money and the car. police say the suspect is wanted for home invasion and burglary and could also be facing charges of kidnapping and carjacking. >> it's been exactly one week since the terror attack shook san

for the north bay, an average of 38 degrees. east bay at 39. and for the south bay, it will start off with 43. let's go ahead and take you to the microclimate forecast as we head throughout saturday. and it is going to stay cold across the bay area. that will put san jose at 59 degrees with a mix of sun and clouds. a little sunnier in cupertino. that should help temperatures to warm up to 61 degrees. for the peninsula, in the 50s. for san mateo back to palo alto, and san francisco will have 55 in the financial district and just a smidge warmer there in the mission. for the north bay, east bay, and also for the tri-valley, i want you to note right up into napa, also santa rosa, that's the best chance of any kind of showers tomorrow, and that would be in the evening hours. temperatures in the 50s. east bay, walnut creek coming in at 58. and for the tri-valley, sunniest location will be livermore at also the upper 50s. let's get a look at the changes for the weekend. saturday evening, a slight storm system moving to the north. again, may bring mar

nbc bay area, we investigate. >>> happy thursday to you. markets rallied yesterday even after they heard that the fed would be raising interest rates, not so much today down about 100 points on the dow. oil prices very low. those are continuing to weigh on the market. martin shkreli, the hedge fund manager turned drug company ceo has been arrested in new york. new video this morning as fbi agents marched shkreli and one of his associates out of a court building in manhattan this morning. shkreli there in the hoodie in the back. he's accused of siphoning money from a drug company he bought while running a previous hedge fund. the u.s. attorney called the whole thing a ponzi scheme. shkreli probably caught your attention when his new hedge fund bought a farm sue kal company and raised one of the pills by over $100. now, one interesting thing in the indictment is the fbi says when shkreli was telling an investor his hedge fund was worth $35 million, it was indeed the indictment says worth $700 total. we'll continue t
