let's get prospective from bar rar ki -- bakari sellers. much do you think those parents who are angry, it's, you know, they clearly believe very strongly in this, how much of this is just being used by politicians now to kind of rob people and divide? >> 100%, anderson. i mean, the fact is i think that critical race theory can go by another name. america history. it amazing we're having this discussion where we're celebrating juneteenth and now individuals don't want to teach us what led us up to june too -- juneteenth. you know, at what point will we be able to teach children what happened six years ago in charleston, south carolina was a white nationalist that walked into a church and murdered nine people. that's a part of america's history. critical race theory has been around for a long time. >> it started in the '70s as i understand it in academic circles, law schools. can you just talk a little bit about how you see it, what it is? is it teaching people to be -- feel bad about their skin color? >> no, in fact, actually critical race

it's reality. >> and bakari, one of the things so interesting about this fight in texas is that it isartisan measure but also the fact is that texas had a very successful election in 2020 where republicans picked up and won a bunch of seats that democrats thought they were going to win and yet still, and this napped florida, too, that isn't enough. apparently they feel like they need to have more voting restrictions, and when you ask republican, republican officials, they say it's because our vote remembers convinced that there is widespread fraud. >> yeah. i mean, it's a big red herring. i mean, this is the epitome thereof, and it shows you that you really only have one party in this country any longer because the republican party is now run by someone who sits in mar-a-lago peddling lies. i mean, if you think about the fact that greg abbott was once a serious character in the republican party and is now taking his cues from donald trump who believes that there are bamboo particles on ballots in arizona because those ballots were imported from china, i mean, you have to talk about th
