bal now that the fed is started to cut rates, what does this mean for other currencies as well?g,n the fed was that was putting more pressure on other countries. they were forced to hike rates in order to keep that risk premium going. the lower rates are at the margin positive for the rest of the world. more liquidity will be out there. the ecb will be adding more liquidity. bank of england, bank of japan. to me, that is not enough to sustain the em story. it is more of a global growth story. until we get some closure, solution to this trade war, it will be difficult for em and these risk assets to get traction. amanda: where does that leave china with its currency? obviously has the reserves to defend it, but any weakness further for china? win: i do. i try to be a voice of reason in people screaming about devaluation and all of that. you cannot devalue a floating currency. besides that, i did a correlation study on my bloomberg page between cny and msci fx. the correlation is somewhere around 0.4, which is quite high. the chinese yuan is trading more with market forces. ironic
