as you may recall last june we came to the plan and program committees for the adoption of the balboa park study we completed in the spring. at that time the board adopted the staff-recommended petition for bicycle safety and minimize traffic going from i-280. out of the study came recommendations for several project elements. element one is to close the northbound on ramp from geneva avenue. element two is reassign the southbound lane and the third is a potential kiss and rider access. this past february we came before the board for an appropriation of $750,000 to advance the next steps in the study and that would found the transportation staff and the interagency agreements with cal-trans and a consultance report. i am here asking for an amount not to exceed $450,000. the consultant scope of work for the next steps include a traffic analysis for both ramp modifications and the precurser to the subscent project approvals. this analysis would be presented to fhwa for approval since it changes access for an interstate highway. the southbound off ramp realignment to ocean avenue we hope to h

lowell high school and i live in visitacion valley and everyday i go to the school and transfer at balboa park to take the 29 but the thing with the 29 it serves many high schools want for example it goes. >> >> [inaudible] high school and balboa and lincoln and colleges and city college and [inaudible] and [inaudible] valley middle school. every time i take the morning buses i always have skip at least one bus pass me by to at least get on the bus because after that many buses come by and i don't really have time to get on a crowded -- i can't get on a crowded bus because many times bus drivers will skip you or push you out because they don't want you behind the yellow line so there is an issue with equity here and the 29 is serving many schools here but the time to stop isn't enough because the run time is eight to 10 minutes and that time isn't enough because most of the students really want to take the bus at a certain time to get to school. for us at lowell we get to school around 730 or 725 and get to school at the time and many take it at balboa park so we don't have enough time to take

in general the biggest sources of appropriation of the balboa park pool which is going forward. this in any way does not impact voter approved funding, it's really just a cash flow measure and reallocating that to (inaudible) which is ready to go into construction and needs 9.9 million for us to reencumber the the contract. so this reappropriation allow us to stay on the schedule. just in terms of program milestones, we have concept plan approvals for most of the phase i projects, gilman, glen canyon why, west mountain sunset and we started planning well in advance for willy wu a failing play grounds task force to make recommendations about which projects we should prioritize with the 15 1/2 million dollars from the failing playgrounds fund. this chart shows basically the summer and fall ahead and the major projects that we expect to go into construction. we're actually in construction right now on joe dmrapblg owe and expect to be going into construction on gilman park and soulgt like as well as west sunset and then glen park recreation center. with these projects dwoiing into
