the balboa park station is a very important asset to the city. it is the busiest transit hub in the southern part of san francisco and the busiest part station in the bay area outside of the market street stations. it also happens to be home to the most important made and yard for the light rail fleet. all of this is happening in a neighborhood, not an industrial part of the city. that, i got a very clearly. it is clear the area is designed around a maintenance function. it is noisy and often unpleasant for people waiting for the bus, train or just walking through. there are few amenities nearby. when we had the tour on march 17th, it was clear to me there are serious safety concerns with the law walkway between this asian and maintenance yard as well as improvements that need to be made -- between the station and maintenance yard as well as improving the cleanliness of the station. the city has recognize the problems and the potential of this area. the bell ballpark station area plan developed by the plot -- the balboa park station area plan rec

one is a follow-up to the balboa park station that is already being done. it is for two important things. one is to study next-generation improvements for circulation. this is marginal investment to get maximum performance out of these multimillion dollar investments made in transportation over the last 30 years. and also, to fund staffing of the cac for the area, so the people of the bell ballpark area can have a better opportunity to produce it in the process. on the 19th avenue corridor, we are funding a study of potential stranded investment, including the shifting of the m line to the west side to improve connections to major activity generators there, and also, better connections to the bart station. we are looking forward to getting the nod from caltrans and then we will be on our way with those major planning efforts. we are also making progress on the bike county study. we have had a meeting recently with the new chair of the mtc to coordinate the next steps up analysis in that area, including changes to the interchange, brt that is being proposed

along balboa park station, geneva, san jose, pushing hard to get a ramp for pedestrians. right now, it is dangerous to cross the street, especially if you are pushing a stroller or are in a wheelchair. you have to go further than you but typically have to. there is so much more to do. we have to figure out how to calm the traffic. a lot of cars, speeding through and make it unsafe for pedestrians. sidewalks are not very convenient for people. it takes a lot of money to do that, but it is really about being vigilant and looking at the fund the come through the transportation authority. we have been extending sidewalks in some places to help with pedestrians, trying to put in islands, plantings to slow down traffic. bike lanes have helped. a bit controversial where i live is a bike lane. people do not see as many bikes, but we are seeing more and more common now that the bike lanes are coming in. that makes it safer for pedestrians. we have a bike way on a major street. you do not have as much time to cross, and you cut down one lane for the cars and a pedestrian can then w

our first issue is, back in 1998, our neighborhood started working on the balboa park bart stations, which is the busiest station in the whole system except for downtown. we addressed issues with the not only then-department of public parking and traffic, but also with muni, now sfmta come on issues this district has been working on for over 10 years. on the same transportation issues, these are major factors in the neighborhood. a major intersection for models of traffic are mission street and geneva. one of the heaviest intersections in san francisco. geneva avenue, i-280, highway 101, bubble park station, and with that, and the better parts neighborhood in 2002. we want to get it finished. there is a proposed transit city village. one of the biggest issues we deal with in the district is we do with the legal building and a blight issues. one of the things that our organization -- not only representing district 11 in the district 11 council -- was life issues and have reworked -- how we worked with light issues, whether it was with dpw or dbi issues, code violations or graffiti issu
