right now, you take the 14 bus 2 balboa station, and it will take you 40 minutes just to get to balboa station. that is one thing i am looking at, making muni more effective. san francisco, we talk about it being a transit first city, but it does not mean a lot of options for transit are not well thought out in places further from downtown. my district is one place where we need to create better options. >> you mentioned muni and the changes that are happening. what about parking, traffic, is the area safer for pedestrians? >> there is always a lot of work to do with pedestrians. making sure the department of parking and traffic is painting along alemany. along balboa park station, geneva, san jose, pushing hard to get a ramp for pedestrians. right now, it is dangerous to cross the street, especially if you are pushing a stroller or are in a wheelchair. you have to go further than you but typically have to. there is so much more to do. we have to figure out how to calm the traffic. a lot of cars, speeding through and make it unsafe for pedestrians. sidewalks are not very convenient for

to the southern part of how city last wednesday commissioner yee and i gave a report no, the balboa station grant and it is about the new affordable housing and the recent opening bus loop at the terminal. the authority has programmed over 2.7 million in grants and revenues for the project area. including the bus loop the future plaza and the affordable housing development and the pedestrian project that would conduct safer more access to the campus and the new plaza. sfmta the city staff are working closely to move the project forward at the ate complicated because it's on city college property. i'm hoping that a solution what precede concurrently with the design of the new plaza that is supposed to start at the end of 2013. i expect the board to enter into closed session in support of a new member and i expect the closed session to be brief. that conclusions my remarks. if we can have public comment on the item any member of the public wish to commit please come forward >> morning, commissioners i'm jackie socking i've been involved if the brt project. chairman avalos did you say they're

adjacent to it and housing that is breaking ground tomorrow, a part of the critical elements of the balboa station plan by the community or developed by the community and an approved by the board of supervisors. it's at the corner of ocean and fill an, by the city college, a few feet up the road. the project really is transforming that whole ocean intersection as well as making way for a public plaza and housing and what was basically a sea of asphalt and overhead wires. the new loop which is substantially completed includes an overhead wiring system, bus shelters, line escaping and one part remaining to be done is completion of operator restrooms behind the firehouse. there is also a little bit upgrade to the firehouse as part of this project. the loop itself has been in service since the beginning of may and the feedback we've gotten so far has been very positive. >> tomorrow at 12:30 the mayor and supervisor will join us and other partners which include the department of public works, city college and housing and the fire department. we'll all join together for the ground breaking for the new a

i own a home and i'm also using public transportation everyday along geneva to the balboa bart station and a also in the earning commute. i am very fortunate to participate with the "x" excelsior action group on the board of supervisors and have long been doing that for several years. i have worked the transportation authority in the past and we look forward to doing the same in the future. i think by virtue of my participation not only on the board of advisory i'm chair of their business attraction committee we're trying to get now a businesses into the community especially along invention even if i'm able to provide some very significant and meaningful advise to the committee. we regularly hold meeting and partner with other groups in the community the associations the mission terrace association and the "x" excelsior district association and so as such i think i'm well positions to bring to this feasibility study, you know, a significant and broad spectrum of community opinion. so thank you very much and i'll look forward to working with each of you >> thank you, mr. cowen next spea
