. >> response to that deadly berkeley balcony collapse. a dozen lawsuits filed this afternoon. six college students were killed when the balcony they were standing on gave way during a party back in june. five were irish nationals here on an exchange program. the civil lawsuit filed today is against the complex owner, the contractor and the property firm that manages that complex. according to the irish times, the lawsuit claims the property manager continued to rent the unit despite complaints about wood rot in the balcony. there are 39 defendants named in that lawsuit. >>> a frantic escape today by a san jose family wracked by flames. they were trapped in their upstairs bedroom just south of downtown. neighbors answered their screams for help and convinced them to drop the 2-year-old and 5-year-old into their waiting arms below. >> i said just do it because you don't have that much time. and i didn't want just to drop them. i said are you guys sure you got them. and they said yes. >> it looks terrifying. i can't even imagine being in that situation. it's speechless. >> now, o
