who spent more than 30 years working at a huge steal mill outside of baltimore, sparrows point. at one time was the largest steal mill in the 1950's. a company town, living in this company town and that was wiped completely away and released by a logistics park, a whole bunch of warehouses and i found a gentleman who work 30 years at the steal mill, incredibly dangerous work and loved it because it had purpose and a sense of community and fellowship and camaraderie. and he then after the steel mill closed, he went to work at amazon warehouse there, making less than half of what he said at the steel mill. the work was not as dangerous of course, but isolating and alienating and he couldn't hack it. it was so utterly kind of-- he felt alone, completely alone on the job and none of that fellowship that he had at the steel mill and he finally quite after just a few years. the-- i was talking recently to another former steal worker from the mill who lives nearby and commented on the fact that the workers at the warehouse when they're leaving their shifts go screaming out of the wareh
