efforts and i think it started for me almost 20 years ago at my first job at legal aid was in baltimore city and i was representing kids in the baltimore foster care system. i had a huge caseload. my first day in court i represented 16 children in an afternoon. honestly, i still feel guilt from that time because i feel like i could have, should have done more for those kids. i was awakened to what foster kids were going through in the system. what they're going through before they came in the system and how hard it was when the h out of care. the stats are lined up against foster children who suffer from ptsd at twice the level of iraq war veterans. this was alarming to me when i realize that the very agencies that exist to serve the best interests of foster care children were actually finding a way to use those children as a source of funds. finding a way to seek out disability or survivor benefits, take control of those monies as a representative payee in a fiduciary capacity and divert that to state coffers. i started doing work as well with low income families and child support issues, i

brad: just in the last couple of hours or so the head of the baltimore city police officers union called a press conference to say the state attorney needs to drop the malicious prosecution of the other officers. the union claiming there is no evidence. what we saw today, as the heavy winds come into town here, what we saw today was that the judge is agreeing with the f.o.p. that there is not much of a lieutenant brian rice was the bicycle officer who first spotted freddie gray on the street of west baltimore. he initiated a pursuit after they made eye contact and gray took off running. rice called for additional officers to help make the arrest. he gave the orders to shackle gray's legs and loaded him face down on the floor of a police transport van choosing not to seat belt him to the bench. for that reason, prosecutors argue he caused the subment death of gray from a tunnellable in the back of the van. judge barry williams rejecting that claim saying just as he did in two prior acquittal of the officers charged in the case indicate that an error in judgment is not a criminal offense.

advocacy efforts and i think it started for me almost 20 years ago my first job at legal aid was in baltimore city. i represented kids in the foster care system. my first day in court i represented about 16 children in an afternoon. so honestly i still feel some guilt from that time and i feel like i should have done more. but i was awakened to what foster kids were going through in the system and what they were going through before they came into the system and how hard it is for them when they age out of care. in the stats are really lined up against foster children. this was alarming to me when i realized that the very agencies that exist to have foster care children was trying to find the way. finding a way to seek out disability or survivor benefits and take control of those monies as a representative payee and then get those funds. i then started doing some work as well with low income families in child support issues including representing fathers which was eye-opening to me with the difficulties as well. they were stationed not only with the survivor benefits from children for taking child
