barbara, let me come to you on another question related to the 14th amendment. this is one of the things that critics of the effort to remove donald trump from the ballot point out. they say that the 14th amendment, section three of the 14th amendment, doesn't mention president of the united states. it mentions electors of president, or electors of vice president. but it also says that it applies to any officer of the united states. how can critics argue that the president, basically, is not an officer of the united states? >> yes, it takes some linguistic gymnastics to get there, a little bit, jonathan. one is it says an officer who has taken an oath to support the constitution. so they look at the oath that the president takes, versus the oath taken by everyone else who is a federal officer. everyone else who's a federal officer says they will support and defend the constitution. the president takes one to prevent -- promote and defend the constitution. because he does not literally take an oath to support the constitution, they argue he is not a federal offic
