[applause] >> good morning. look at all of you. it is wonderful. in 2004, when dad and newsom -- when gavin newsom became mayor, he had a heart to heart talk with all of us about homelessness, and he wanted to something different, something that would touch the lives of people on the street, and -- because there were so many of them, and they were all hopeless. he gathered a lot of us together and talked very seriously about what really can we do. there has been a lot of things in his life that he appreciated, as well as mine and others that worked with him, and that is, of course, the way we have been able to gather volunteers. volunteers -- for you today to do what you are going

[applause] >> thank you very much. you know, the video release says it all. we live in an amazing place, and if you think back to the spring of 2009 when other hospitals in the bay area had to put up special tents because people were panicked about h1n1, and in san francisco, we had a really calm population, all the way from the mayor to the board of supervisors to the department head to the general population, and it is because of all the work we have done in preparation. all of the city departments have been working on this planning for a couple of years before h1n1 came. the city departments and within our own staff, we just had amazing -- we all came together around h1n1, and we did a really fabulous job as a city, so i think everyone deserves great things for how we handled h1n1. i also want to give thanks for my daughter and my husband. a lot of late nights i worked and phone calls during dinner and i want to thank them for their support. thanks to all of you, and we are a really great city, and we are ready for

and distinguished -- barbara garcia. my name is linda richardson. i'm a long time resident of san francisco. a former planning commissioner. the time allotted is not enough to defend a legacy of a great organization like cpmc. i'm sure you have listened to many speakers tonight. i'm here, though, primarily as a patient for the last 25 years. i have actually used these services of cpmc and i can tell you that my daughter was from there as one of the finest medical -- in the country. a lot of people have spoken about hunters point and i really take it seriously when people come into a public forum to disseminate lies and misinformation. we're talking about the bayview health center. cpmc responded to the disparity in the health and established the bayview health center which has become a model for the country. i cannot just sit by when you talk about the community by not invoking the african-american community, the breast health center and the work of one of -- cpmc staff, dr. dyson. the community has benefited tremendously and i wanted to -- as a bri

barbara corcoran after your local news and weather. t >>> good friday morning to you. it is 7:26. i'm laura garcia-cannon. work is taking part on the bay bridge right now. crews are making serious headway. christie smith is live with new information for us this morning. >> reporter: good morning to you, laura. the tower is the centerpiece of the new bay bridge, not just for the iconic look but it is designed to move in the event of an earthquake. the fourth section is up ahead of schedule, supposed to be done. instead it was completed about 1:25 this morning. again, this is the fourth section of bringing the tower to 480 feet tall. when it is all complete it will be 525 feet tall. there's a cable saddle here in oakland ready to be installed in april, which will round out the top. caltrans is telling us it was the clear weather that helped them get ahead in moving the legs. each one made a 500 tons of steel. the bridge is set to open in 2013, four to six months ahead of schedule. >> that's such a rare thing these days. thank you, kristy. >>> we want to get a check on the forecast now with christina. >> goo
