we are working with the probation chief and with barbara garcia. we have a meeting with them on monday and we hope to be able to report back to you on where we are going with this one recommendation. the next implementation we will be looking at was that a. -- data. dispatchers would call any call they got as domestic violence. we thought more code should be created for child abuse and elder abuse. we have three new coats for child abuse. assault, aggravated assault, and well being checked. now police know if they're going to see a child. next year, we will be able to tell you more accurately what the child abuse dispatchers are dealing with. we train them every year and they are dedicated people that want to be able to do this. the third recommendation is the one i wanted to spend a little more time on. we were given the job of creating a child advocacy center in san francisco by the public partners we work with. we have had an interview center in the basement for a long time. it is where we interview all children. we do one forensic interview and

we have a brand new health director, barbara garcia. she is one of the most capable, knowledgeable people in that field that we can possibly have made a director. she is well known in the behavioral health community. she managed behavioral health over these past years. she manages, before becoming health director, mental health substance abuse programs. she was the individual working with all of the patient flow issues between our acute hospitals and the placements. she works closely with all the community-based providers. i think you will see a different perspective, a different focus and a different set of ideas coming out of the health department as time goes on. it is clearly a very large problem. it's a problem that had its origin in the reagan administration, when the state hospitals were closed and when most of the responsibility for this was sort of delegated down to the counties. it is clearly a big problem for san francisco. we work very hard to manage it. we still provide more mental health services than any other county in t

barbara ga garcia, our new health director, those of you who know barbara know her area of expertise is in community programs, behavioral health, substance abuse, primary care. she was responsible for all of fleems. as deputy director before she took the position. there's no one who knows more than this than barbara. i don't think there's anyone more respected than barbara on this topic. she and many of us in the department have been working closely with the mayor and our community partners around, trying to find the least harmful way to -- if we ultimately have to make cuts, try to do it in the least harmful way possible. still, i think the -- the total of $10 million of cuts in our budget that fall into community programs is something in the neighborhood of 2% of the total money we spend in that area. so we're spending in terms of the funding that go to community programs over $200 million a year and so -- we're looking at about a $10 million cut overall. so we really are trying to minimize that to the extent we request. >> is there anyone else that would like to respond to any oth
