barbara walters is here to speak to that. first, let's get to jake tapper with more on the president's u.n. speech. good morning, jake. >> reporter: good morning, george. mitt romney and paul ryan will be kicking off a bus tour in ohio, to regain momentum in a state where they're trailing. but president obama will be at the united nations, telling the assembly of leaders that the united states will do what we must to prevent iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. a senior administration official tells abc news this morning in new york city, in front of the united nations, president obama will reiterate the u.s. commitment to preventing iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon. he'll also call on leaders in the combustible muslim world to end the violence and declare the u.s. will not shrink from bringing to justice those who harm americans. sensing an opening, mitt romney has been assailing the president for calling the situation bumps in the road. >> bumps in the road -- we had an ambassador assassinated. and iran is that much cl

barbara walters had a good question. she said you write books that goes against many believe. yes. that is why i am writing them. you will learn new things when you read my book. it was a fantastic interview. again, they are the miss believed by all of the mainstream media that will not interview me. >> i thought when barbara said that, she was doing that thing that a lot of people do with you, you can't really believe. app really doesn't -- anne really doesn't believe that? >> no, but that remark is one of the most -- does that give them comfort? and by the way, if i am acting how come they can't win an argument with me? >> that's so true. how is the book doing? >> i don't know. it came out on tuesday. it is an excellent book. you will learn a lot. i think it is important for people to know. >> i know people read you regularly, and you have so many kinds of fans. your books are funny and well researched. how long does it take to write a book? >> this is a topic that interested me. i did the research and wrote it really fast, but i didn't do anything else. you will not see me. >> i

. >> greta: the headlines, "obama comes to new york for barbara walters, and sort of u.n." why isn't he meeting with anybody? >> i think it's a comment on the depth of his arrogance. i think this is a person that doesn't care what the world thinks, doesn't care what the american people thinks. if he gets re-elected, he'll be right and the rest of us will be wrong. i mean, his view is all about a cynical, calculated approach. "the view" gets him more votes than meeting with 10 or 15 world leaders. and the fact that he's not doing his job is irrelevant. you have to divide it into two parts. there's winning the office and there is actually being president. he's clearly said if i can win the office, i don't care what the rest of you think. let me say, what should really deeply bother americans is how does all this play out in the rest of the world? imagine you were an ambassador trying to explain to the president of egypt or the president of china or the president of germany, the chancellor of germany, you know, the president can't meet with you because there's no time in his s

barbara walters' question at the end was, you seem to write books that are against what everyone thinks. the interview was actually really great, because they believe all the myths which my book sets straight. i do massive amounts of research, because lots of people believe lots of false things. >> sean: one of the things, juan, she brings up is absolutely true. when you look at the civil rights movement -- you've written about this as well. where was al gore's father? who were did lyndon johnson count on to get the civil rights and voting rights act passed? it seems like the narrative that is being pushed -- i'll even say the president and his campaign this time, we're going to put y'all back in chains, romney is a racist. an obama truth team member said this is a false narrative about conservatives, that they're racists. i resent it. it's not true. al gore's father voted against the civil rights act. a former clansman was a part of the democratic party in the senate. this is a false narrative. do you agree? >> there's lots that's false. in fact when i heard ann was accused of bull fea
