you already saw for example barclays ready to set up much bigger bonuses for their bankers. looking that rosy across the street realistically? >> i don't we just talked about the interview but if you had to see the best indicator for what people are expecting next year for the banks, look at what their stocks have done this year and that will tell you what you need to know about expectation and the outlook going into next year. they are all up 40% to 50%. jeffries is up something like 95%. sonali: i was going to say none better than goldman but jeffries is perhaps better. sridhar: the fact that their stocks doubled this year on the expectation they will be a gusher of activity opened up next year, that is where banking expectations are right now, but there are crosswinds and you are never certain how it will pan out. in fact, if you were to look at what happened the day after the november election, all the bank stocks rallied up, and in the days after that, went up even higher. but since then, they have given up half of their gains. so what the concern there is not entirely

barclay's downgrading major home builders from overweight to equal weight projecting a new ceiling onhose weekly mortgage data out just a short time ago. want to get straight over to diana olick who joins us with the latest numbers. good morning, diana. what have we got? >> good morning, andrew. mortgage applications -- mortgage rates, actually, fell again last week, not a huge drop but enough to push a little surge in refinance demand, the average rate on the 30 year fixed for conforming loans fell to 6.67% from 6.69 for loans with 20% down. not huge but the third straight week of declines. as a result applications to refinance a home loan surged 27% week to week and were 42% higher than the same week a year ago. the percentages are large, likely because the base volume is still so small. most borrowers today have mortgages with rates well below what is being offered today, from 2020 through the first part of 2022 rates were below 4%. applications for a mortgage to buy a home fell 4% for the week, but were 4% higher than the same week a year ago. demand from home buyers has been gain

barclays head of the european research. thanks for joining us.lilly and novo nordisk and in the recent days that was really driven home by the disappointing cagrisema news from novo nordisk. i'm wondering where you think that this divergence is warranted or do you think investors have discounted novo enough on the cagrisema news? >> yeah. so certainly the cagrisema news was very disappointing, but that was really relative to a bar that the company set with investors in that they had set a weight loss goal for the drug of at least 25% of body weight. it came in at 22.7. so missing that bar that they set was a large reason the stock declined so much. however there's still a lot we don't know about the data and actually, as a headline weight loss result, it is the best number we have seen. we think it will still be a very, very big drug, but it's going to take some time to sort of win investors back to the story i think. >> do the side effects the number of 57% not proceeding to the highest dosage alarm you in any way? >> yeah. that's why we think -
