this happened at ferguson road, damaging part of a barn and thousands of pallets. at one point, the fire got so high, it could be seen from highway 101 a mile to the west. brian flores explains the struggles firefighters faced in putting this out. >> reporter: this bright orange glow could be seen for miles early in the morning as several pallets, old cars, equipment and part of a barn went up in flames. >> when we arrived at scene, there were several thousand pallets on fire and the barn was -- the large barn behind mean was immediately threatened. >> reporter: the fire started just before 5:00 this morning on what is described as a pallet yard and ranch. on the 2700 block of ferguson road in gill roye. several fire crews were called in from san jose, south santa clara, gilroy, morgan hill and even as far as hollister to battle the blaze. >> the cause is under investigation. we've got our fire personnel at scene right now. we've got a mix of agriculture and residential uses at this property so just because of the size of the fire, the investigation is will take qu

you can see that this barn is destroyed.refighters are just trying to comb through some of that debris. you can see the smoke just rising from these ashes in the sunlight here as it begins to rise. just to put this in perspective, where we are, this is lipsick, a small town just north of dover, about ten minutes north of downtown dover. and this fire happened about 4:30 this morning and during the response, one of the trucks from the volunteer fire department here got involved in an accident. in fact, we have some video. just into our newsroom a few minutes ago of it being removed from the scene. it had to be taken away by a tow truck. you'll see what happened out here. the truck was responding to the fire, and went off an embankment. out here in leipsic. and went down that embankment about three feet. so that created quite a stir. in fact, we have some audio from the fire radio of what that response is like. some tense moments early on. take a listen. >> our truck slipped. east denney's road. >> pretty frantic out here earl

david: peter barnes is live in d.c. and ashley webster on the story. with ashley, with the latest. ashley. >> david we actually have a name now of the gunman fatally shot inside the canadian parliament building this morning. he is identified as 32-year-old michael safabo. believed to be canadian born. sharing the name with u.s. authorities putting that name into their databases and watch lists to see if he comes up were a flag. he is fatally accused of shooting a soldier standing guard at a war memorial across from the main parliament building, going into the parliament building where he was fatally shot. we have reports shots heard at nearby shopping center were proven to be false but parts of the city center are still in lockdown. the perhaps the biggest issue it is still unclear if other suspects are at large. also very quickly, guys, i wanted to mention the situation that happened on monday where two canadian soldiers were run over, one fatally by a suspect who himself was then killed. turns out this particular individual involved in that situation
